@hanley - Yes, it's our annual collab from Susy and
I, in the nick of time!
We always leave it til very late in the month, but it's nice to ruminate on what the theme/vibe for the song will be earlier in the month.
Susy wanted something suitably spacey, so after nutting out a chord progression together I programmed the beats etc. It went in a bit of a different direction to what both of us had first envisaged, but hey that's the beauty of FAWM songwriting... Never know what you're gonna get!
Happy with the end result, Susy came up with an amazing melody and catchy lyrics to fit the rather odd shifts in key throughout.
I realised whilst nearing completion that I must have subconsciously been tapping into some of the dreamy Japanese synth pop composers I've been enjoying listening to in the last year. 80s film compositions and the like. Hopefully I've achieved some of their warmth and smoothness without too much cheese!
Like our robot vacuum
we do our jobs we clean the room
but no one seems to ever clean their mind
Like a crab
I retract
so attached
to the tiny circles in my mind
swallowing the bitter bile
wash my eyes oh wash my eyes
kaleidoscopic vision shows us how to see
a better version of the you and me
take me there please
to that loving feeling, that warm believing
under the mud
it's been hiding there all along

This is great. Love how the vocal sits in that lush flute + synth woozy thing, with little snatches of lyrics slipping in and out of hearing - low expectations and housewives on valium! Excellent stuff from you both.
@judypie Mar 2022
Ooh behave yourselves! This is like a lush dream :D So many ear treats throughout. Too much talent for one song I believe!
@kaminokai Mar 2022
Groovy and fun.

I could listen to this all day long. The musical changes and soundscape kept me riveted to all of the nuances and subtle changes.
The harmonies are perfect
Susy....you know I have been a fan from the beginning
Warm all over.
Thank you guys for this collab

Love the lyrics, particularly the crab simile. Very cool soundscape -sounds like electronic marimba is lurking. Unusual and very effective vocals.
@kendrakinsey Mar 2022
Oh so soft and warm harmonies — love the lyrics (post the rest)! Wow your voice(s?) sound so lovely, such great production, really varied and captivating
@shortdan Mar 2022
This is great guys! A really cool progression and melody that did a bunch of things I wasn't expecting. So many elements I enjoyed - great electro instrumentation and arrangement. Vocals all really stunning (love hearing you together!). Reminds me a little of a band called The Bird And The Bee (who I love!). Lovely stuff :-)

Great work guys, super emotive, love the chorus - getting serious movie soundtrack vibes
@jdschramm Mar 2022
Whoa the Kaleidoscopic vision part is a cool shift. Interesting song, it's a fun journey to follow.

Return of the bwoop! Was really enjoying this, but that really high register vocal against the plinky-plonk synth is.. *chef's kiss*. Yeah, definitely hearing a bit of a YMO or Sakamoto/Hosono/Takahashi solo output vibe to this! Some beautiful chords are born out of Susy's BVs, and Hanley keeps things perfectly arranged. What's that gated panning synth at the end? Big fan of that
@headfirstonly Mar 2022
Definitely getting the Japanese synthpop vibe here, and absolutely loving it. Impeccable harmonies with soft, ethereal vocals over some splendid bleepy goodness and oh boy, that lead break. This is spectacularly good, folks.
Me being me, I looked at the image in the Soundcloud player and immediately started wondering if it was the back of Professor Brian Cox's head. :-)
@sailingmagpie Mar 2022
Absolutely no cheesiness detected whatsoever! This is absolutely bloody lovely and I can definitely see the 80s Japanese vibe. Love the unusual chord changes and those melody lines are stunning! It's cool how it seems to move through different vibes with each section.

Solid Scifi movie soundtrack of a better vision of the future...feeling like I walked into a club and there's this music playing. Vocal harmonies amazing!
