This came from me being very--some might say overly--cautious about COVID risk. (I get why people want to get back to normal pleasures, but cases are still high! They only look low now because Omicron moved the goalposts!) And for me, it's not just about the actual risk; I'm also preserving my mental health by relieving myself of "WHAT IF I'VE CAUGHT COVID?" stress.
(ttto Walk the Line)
I keep a close watch out for COVID signs
Most of my social contact is online
I’ll leave the house, but I won’t indoor dine
I hold the line
And I feel fine
I wear my mask each time I go outside
I use the charts of case rates as a guide
Maybe my error margin is too wide
But I decide
I choose to hide
Because infection risk just gives me stress
That’s what I do my utmost to suppress
So staying home gives me the best success
I will confess
That I’m a mess

Hiding is sometimes the exact opposite of being a mess. It's finess, right?
"At home I can work in my night dress
I will profess
Dress for success!"

<--- another very cautious hermit here :) Great lyric, well structured and very to the point. Nice progression without losing the initial point.

I'm hiding too, so your sentiment here resonates!
This is short but punchy. And really gets your message across. And, yes, I sang it in my head. :-D

This is great! The lyric fits so well.
And you are not alone on holding the line.
Excellent work!
