I don't always listen to FAWM tracks on headphones, but I'm glad I did for this one. Great soundscape. We should all hit record on those experimenting sessions once in a while, because you never know what might come out. Good job this one, really complex.
FAWM is all about experimenting, and the weirder things get sonically, the happier I become. The little motif that drops in at around 2:50 is lovely. Even though it sounds nothing like it, this reminds me of Tomita's arrangement of Mars, from Holst's Planets Suite. And +1 on what Paul says about the breakdown two-thirds of the way along. There's some gorgeous soundscaping going on! This doesn't sound like it has gone awry at all; I really enjoyed listening to this.
I love the way this builds with a sense of menace and foreboding. The staggered rhythms underlying at the initial bass drone are unsettling, but attention-grabbing. As the melodic theme starts to emerge, those high dissonances really add to the tension and atmosphere. I also really like the way there's a competition going on between the melodic lines, each subtly vying for my attention. That breakdown at the two-thirds point is excellent!
Not sure this one has gone awry. I really like it. :-)
