For @darcistrutt's Story Cube Challenge I got thunder bolt, rainstorm, galaxy, robot, and someone crying.
Curiosity is a robot that is presently on mars, collecting soil samples. The scientists who sent it there spent many hours adjusting the noises that it made so that on his "birthday" it would perform the exact actions that would make the tones that make up the Happy Birthday song.
Here's a video link that explains it, and you can hear the song as it was played on Mars.

This did not turn out how I expected it to. The addition of crying as one of the prompts from the cube took it in this direction. I may take another run at it some time, but this is my little tribute to a hard working little rover.
In the Milky Way galaxy,
The robot, Curiosity,
Looks up to the Martian sky,
As rainbow clouds go rolling by.
Trudging through the reddish dust
Collecting samples from the crust
Never stopping to think why
As the time keeps ticking by.

Another birthday so they say,
In a station far away
Light a candle, cut a cake,
On earth it’s time to celebrate
Colorful prismatic clouds,
Thunder, though not very loud
Through the thin Mars atmosphere,
In fact he barely even hears.
Another rainstorm blowing in
will clearly slow his traveling
But his mission stays the same,
So, what’s a little rain?

Another birthday so they say,
And in a station far away
Light a candle, cut a cake,
On earth it’s time to celebrate
Bridge:
Scientists and Engineers
Have waited oh so long to hear
The first song ever heard on Mars,
No pianos, no guitars,
As they listen from afar,
Little Curiosity
Sings Happy birthday to the stars.
All alone he rolls along
As the raindrops mark his song,
Or are they teardrops, who could say,
On Curiosity's Birthday.

I can still remember where I was when Curiosity was deployed, back in August 2012: in a bar in Vancouver. The whole room cheered. This is a fitting tribute to the little robot that could, and which still can!

Congratulations, you've made an adorable robot :) Love all the vivid imagery too.

Interesting story. I like that it starts both personal and technical. That's sweet :) #tit4tat

Such a simple story, so evocatively told. I really like the chorus. The cadence and phrasing is spot-on, everything flows naturally to tell the tale of a lonely little birthday robot. Beautiful take on the challenge.

Well told story with very colorful language. You brought the little guy to life.

I will always head straight for a song with the word "Robot" in the title. I can't help it. Hooray for Curiosity! I watched the video you linked, and there is something a little sad and distant about the way the tune is played. From the lyrics I get the feeling of a faithful little robot, working away doing its tasks until it no longer can. Lovely stuff! #ListeningSkirmish

#tit4tat intrigued by the title! Well i guess if you wanted a song tgat represents earth, you've probably got it! I want to hear a robot sing it! Lots of colorful words and descriptions in this visual episode!

Nice job with your roll! I'd be sad if the only happy birthday song I heard was the one I sang to myself. It all worked together very smoothly.

#tit4tat... come get em!

Oh this deserves music! A great little tribute to our principal eyes and ears on Mars.
@dragondreams Mar 2022
Awww. So sad and poignant. I want to give little Curiosity a hug!

Lovely lyrics, Sheila, original, imaginative and happy.
