Just joining the flurry of posters in the last evening before FAWM ends. I've got bits of a melody for this one, just didn't have a chance to record it today so lyrics only for now. I thought the lyric and subject matter would be a fitting conclusion to my FAWM this year. Perhaps ironically for those same reasons, I spent so many years waiting for the perfect thing or trying to meet some ridiculous quota of self-righteousness in an effort to be good enough that I missed out on enjoying the process, embracing the journey.
Perhaps that's just how wisdom and getting older and more mature works but I see both pictures now. The bigger one and the one right in front of my face. I can dream for the bigger one but I can only live in what's directly in front of me one day at a time.
Guess I'm cheating a little bit with the placeholders before this one, but I wanted this one to be my 14th song and I'm in progress with the placeholders but def won't finish any tonight.
It's been a wild ride this FAWM. So happy to be back in it after a dismal effort last season. So incredibly grateful for this community and I'm looking forward to catching up on my listening this week! Much love to you all!
Coda (Hello Heart)
Feb 28
I’ve been looking for the finish line
Waiting for a medal for how far I’ve come
If there was a vista, I don’t remember it
I’ve been so focused I’ve forgotten how to live life
What if I slowed down
And took a look around
Maybe the future was here all along
This is my coda
I’ve met my quota
It's beautiful
And I’m complete
Hello heart, I’m yours
I’m free
I’ve been looking for the starting line
Waiting for the sound of the opening gun
If there was a moment, I probably missed it
I’ve been so absorbed I’ve lost sight of the prize
What if I slowed down
And took a look around
Maybe the future was here all along
This is my coda
I’ve met my quota
It's beautiful
And I’m complete
Hello heart, I’m yours
I’m free
Hello heart, it’s been quite awhile
Hello heart, I think I remember how to smile
Hello heart, it’s been quite a war
Hello heart, I’m yours
This is my coda
I’ve met my quota
It's beautiful
And I’m complete
Hello heart, I’m yours
I’m free

Nodding in agreement at those liner notes. Learning to be happy right now, right here is a skill that we all need to develop. I look back on my younger self and think what an idiot I was for not realising that...
This is uplifting and joyous, and a perfect closer for FAWM.

That is an absolutely beautiful chorus lyric. Touching my heart.
