Feb 2022 thankyou traditional irish-ish blessing 12-string mandolin
I started with kind of a cheesy note, I’ll end with one too.
Written in the style of a “may the road rise to meet you, etc”, Irish blessing, I don't *think* I plagiarized the words or music here, at least not consciously.
FAWM is basically the only time all year I write any music at all, and I owe it entirely to the wonderful encouraging community of astonishing talent here. This is dedicated to everyone taking part, including all the hapless spouses/family that, like mine, have put up with 1 AM bedtimes and cables everywhere this whole month. Thank you.
May you be healthy
and never be ill
May the sun never burn
and the wind never chill
May your foes turn to friends
and your friends remain true
and may you find fortune
in all that you do
May your water be clear
and your wine a dark red
your butter be yellow
and brown be your bread
pick the sweetest of berries
in red, black, and blue
and may you be nourished
in all that you do
May your voice never waver
but sound clear and strong
May you join together
in glorious song
with your melodies pure
and the notes all in tune
and may you find music
in all that you do
(Mandolin outro)

PS Any chance of putting the chords up? Or at least telling us what they are? I'm pretty hopeless at working out the chords for songs.

This is a wonderful song for the last song in an Irish session.
I hope you get to Ireland and sing it one day.

I *love* this! This is right up my alley and I'd sing this at just about any open sing. The lyrics are lovely and I love the colors in the second verse. Granted, add a rousing singable chorus for everyone else to join in, and you've got something that will raise the rafters!

Not cheesy at all in my mind. Thank you for this. I'm pretty sure there are many in FAWMland who can/will appreciate this. The arrangement is beautiful and capped off with a sincere vocal performance. Hats off to you.
