Feb 2022 collab baritone-ukulele ukulele guy-with-ukulele fuc acoustic-one-take
Ken: This is my first take on @stephenwordsmith's great lyrics. I was so taken by them. I didn't post them before as I'm working on a collab with @pianoonthepatio to make them really big, but we ran out of time, so that will probably mostly happen post-FAWM (but you can see it at https://fawm.org/songs/138211/.)

Can you [G] shape the potter's clay to something [C] barely holding [G] water?
Cut a [C] princess from a diamond un[D7]refined?
Can you [G] take the final picture of a [C] broken merchant's [G] daughter
And [C] speak the thousand words written be[D7]hind?
CHORUS
Can you [G] open up our eyes unto
A [C] world of light and [D7] shape
Can you [G] show us [C] all the passage to es[G]cape?
Can you [G] cut a thread of fate just long e[C]nough to weave a [G] mystery
And [C] fill the minds to make it all un[D7]ravel?
Can you [G] build a motley town with a mi[C]llennium of [G] history
And [C] raze it by the sunset to the [D7] gravel?
CHORUS
Can you [G] breathe the breath of life to someone [C] on the eve of [G] dying?
Hatch a [C] butterfly and beat its little [D7] wings?
Can you [G] fill a man with purpose without [C] seeming to be [G] trying
And turn [C] nothingness to new and wondrous [D7] things?
CHORUS
BRIDGE
And can you [Em] lead us up the path to [Am] leap the final [D] fence?
Con[Em]ceive of the way [Bm] out when all is [Am] pregnant with su[D7]spense?
Can you [G] plant a family tree with roots that [C] stretch to Eden's [G] soil?
Hanging [C] every branch with riches and with [D7] rags?
Can you [G] fill a realm with kings to rule and [C] men of brass to [G] toil?
War and [C] famine in the colors of their[D7] flags?
CHORUS

Wow you have a lovely clear voice! I like this simple folky guitar playing also. The bridge was especially beautiful. Great take on these lyrics.
@metalfoot Mar 2022
A very pretty melody for this word in a classic folk-song motif! Nicely done.

@leepat Mar 2022
lovely - the width and depth of the lyrics borne forth seamlessly upon the bard's melodious bed.
great stuff!
@leslie333 Mar 2022
Beautiful melody, love the picking. They really add to the gorgeous lyrics,
@darcistrutt Mar 2022
I like that chorus. Escaping sounds rather nice now and then. The rolling ukulele picking is lovely.
@berni1954 Mar 2022
These lyrics have all the mystery and gravitas of early Dylan or Phil Ochs songs and Ken has done a great job of giving them a melody and an arrangement to match.
@eas3637 Mar 2022
I agree with you, Ken - these lyrics are fantastic! I love the melody you've crafted here - especially the way your voice soars in the chorus. Lovely!
@stephenwordsmith Mar 2022
In the words of Dames Jools and Lynda Topp, 'She's bloody gorgeous, Ken'.
@kcflowers Mar 2022
Lovely lyrics, lovely voice, lovely melody. Nice job.
@dragondreams Mar 2022
Fabulous one take song. And a beautiful treatment of Stephen's words. I love your bardic style. :-)
@liz561 Mar 2022
The melody on this is really lovely Ken! Nice picking too. I think this one is worth adding more to!.
@mikeb Mar 2022
A wonderful treatment of these lyrics! Has a very classic sound to it, like a traditional song that has been around for many years.
@mikehex Feb 2022
I like this take a lot, has the folky vibe of PPM and that circle. The shape of the vocal line transforms the lyric in a very good way. Well done!
