Thinking about Ukraine and every person in every part of the world who has been affected by war, injustice, and prejudice.
Also this is 14 yay I can sleep now. Happy FAWM everyone!
Pinned down in the middle
We're paddling upstream
Looking for a little more
But nothing's ever as it seems
Give praise to the fighting
Keep vigil for the peace
Beware of the lightning
And pieces of its memory
And I've been looking for a reason and I really don't know where to go
And I keep hoping for an answer and I pray you find your way back home
Run run through the desert
Run for your sanity
You're feeling the pressure
Of crumbling humanity
And I've been reading all the headlines and collecting what I didn't know
And I keep hoping for an answer and I pray you find your way back home
Give thanks for the rainbows
Curse greed and prophecy
Cross the ocean in your ship
Made of sunflower seeds
And I've been looking for a reason but the only thing I see is smoke
And I keep hoping for an answer and I pray you find your way back home
Your way back home

This is so great! I like how you take all the potential volatility here and transform it somehow into something quite gentle, mostly - or maybe laid back... And yet it rocks. It’s a really interesting combo and I think the song really gets at what many are thinking and feeling at this moment in time.
@liz561 Mar 2022
Wow-I love the feel of this song-great beat and vibe! The chorus is killer!!
@driftwood1 Mar 2022
Excellent lyric. Hits all the right points for the current situation but stays universal in its message. The guitar rocks and the chorus hits huge with the harmony. This hits on all levels. #listeningskirmish
@standup Mar 2022
nice groove, because of course you know what you're doing...
I guess (in all our lives) we have to fight but hope for peace.
Powerful chorus. The fog of war? Not knowing. Trying to find home.
And with Ukraine, obsessively reading headlines for sure.
Love the guitar tone on that solo, very very edgy.
The sunflower seeds was a very powerful idea from the last week.
We're missing someone, hope they find their way back home, and in war that's never a sure thing.

Robyn, you got your very own style I can spot after 30 seconds. Wow, the bass is deep low and groovy, I like that tone. Your lyrics are right on spot. Not too direct, you can interprete a lot things into, but I definately feel the devastation. I liked that phrase: "And I've been looking for a reason but the only thing I see is smoke" #ListeningSkirmish
@jtsteam Mar 2022
Great beat. As others have said, there's a nice 90s vibe to this (which is always fine with me!). I like that chorus, and, well, the sentiment throughout. The bass line sounds good in my living room right now too! Nice way to end FAWM. #ListeningSkirmish
@wobbiewobbit Mar 2022
love that big bass sound and the gritty guitar sound. the harmonies are so good, they really pull you in. keeping in mind the subject throughout i like the mix of hope in adversity. the sunflower seeds image has been a very strong one in these recent days and it is a nice way you have used it. sad times. strong song.
@ampersandman Mar 2022
Great song to leave the month. I especially like that deeeeeep bass line. The lyrics are a great commentary, loved the mention of sunflower seeds.
@metalfoot Mar 2022
This is a great 14th song. And very on point with the state of the world right now.
@sph Mar 2022
Great closing song. "I've been reading all the headlines and collecting what I didn't know" made me realize how much of "doomscrolling" I did in the last days. It's all too much
Ah yes:I like this sort of mini guitar solo
@roblincoln Mar 2022
Classic sound to this one. But timely lyrics. Very catchy. Love when the lead guitar comes in. My favorite image is the ship made of sunflower seeds.
@tjeff Mar 2022
Excellent track, sounds great, mixed well. Love the guitar that seems to have a mix of clean and fuzz. A bit of a Liz Phair vibe which I love. Strong vocal. Great hook line, both lyrically and musically - I'm singin' along!!
@cicpisces Mar 2022
Love that hard striking beat. Sweet. Really like the melody and the performance. Ticks a lot of boxes in what I like in a song. V.nice.
@crutherford Mar 2022
wonderful, Robyn!
powerful and hopeful
i adore these lines:
Give thanks for the rainbows
Curse greed and prophecy
Cross the ocean in your ship
Made of sunflower seeds
i'm going to play catch up in listening the next couple of days
you'll be hearing more from me

@dancrook Mar 2022
Vocal and melody are great on this. Vocal fits the sound perfectly. Has lots of 90s vibes which I dig. Think the mix could benefit from bringing the guitars down and a bit of panning. Thanks for sharing
@mikeb Mar 2022
Congratulations on your trophy! A message of hope for everyone in the chorus, which with its changeup in music really accents it..
@ambroise Mar 2022
So I made a list in my head of everything I love in this and well its makes quite the whole song ! The four chords loop is a killer to tell the effort, the insistance and the hope from the lyrics. The change of rythm, as mentioned by @hmorg prevent it from routine and boredom. The drum feels alive, I've been fooling around with MIDI drums this year but I can't reach that sond this way ! And with that tasty thick bass, it made me think of Serge Gainsgourg's "Bonny & Clyde". The rythm guitar gives his strong grit tracks and the solo cast light ahead. Did I miss something ? Yeah ; the whole thing. It squeezes my shoulder and groans warmly that we can make it. And does it feel good !
@hmorg Mar 2022
Ahhh, awesome! Here's a sentiment I hope most of us can agree with put into beautiful words and melodies. And a special mention goes out to that lovely, brittle guitar tone, which is what I often have in my head when writing something more akin to pop than death metal but which I can seldom achieve.
@davidtaro Mar 2022
Great closer, Robyn! Love the contrast between the rhythm in the verse vs the chorus. It totally fooled me, in that I didn’t notice it was a four chord loop until I looked at the tags at the end! Words are excellent - serious, sad yet hopeful, not too heavy handed, and they have a lovely valedictory air which works for a final song. Loved listening this month, and I have some catch-ups to do in the next few weeks too - yay!
