Really really happy with this one; didn't get to finish the mix, but time she is up. This was also the first song I wrote after reading the firstfruits post, but one of the last that I finished.
Intro
C A A A A A C G G G A G
V1
Routine's a four letter word when things aren't going well
Find myself in patterns hard to change
Negative's a feedback loop, and I'm the battery
Charging forward without the juice to rearrange
PCH open C, G, E-F x3; F, G
I take a breath
I close my eyes
I sit down sloooow
I push myself to be better
And remember I can change
CH
Gratitude's an attitude to which I aspire
Kindness an ever moving goal, which I extol (and try to follow)
Imperfection is how I live, but when something's got to give
I hope the striving counts towards my accounts, after the lights go out
BR F G
Control control control squeeze down tight
Grinding whites to stubs and bitter gums
Explode explode explode when gum it hits the bone
Tongue in my cheek filled with regret.
CH
Gratitude's an attitude to which I aspire
Kindness is an ever moving goal, which I extol (and try to follow)
Imperfection is how I live, but when something's got to give
I hope the striving counts towards my accounts, after the lights go out
V2 (somewhat of a copout, but I like the flow to reuse in v2)
Surprise is a four letter word when things are going well
Breaking out of patterns, hard to change
Positive's a feedback loop, and I'm the battery
Charging forward with the juice to rearrange
PCH
I take a breath
I close my eyes
I sit down sloooow
I push myself to be better
And remember I can change
CH
Gratitude's an attitude to which I aspire
Kindness is an ever moving goal, which I extol (and try to follow)
Imperfection is how I live, but when something's got to give
I hope the striving counts towards my accounts, after the lights go out

I LOVE "Negative's a feedback loop, and I'm the battery" -- that is such an accurate way to describe that situation. I love both the (appropriately slow) pre-chorus and the sentiment of the chorus.

I like how this turns towards a more positive outlook as it progresses. The chorus has a bit of humor to lighten the tone. I totally connect to the bridge as I'm a teeth grinder too -haha. Music is a nice fit and the melody is fun. I enjoyed the listen :)

That is a very clever opening verse lyric! And I think it's great how the slyness dissolves to simplicity, exactly matching the premise of taking that breath. Loving the movement of the bass line especially in the chorus. The countermelody back there adds a ton of, how shall I say, energy and constraint combined. Again like the lyrics say. That last line is neat as well. Very cool track.

Digging the music on this one!

I like the lush drumbeat, the guitar in the back and the vocal harmonies. Heartfelt sentiment in the lyrics.

I love the lyrics and also share the sentiment expressed about the desire to be better. Really nice ideas ans well put together.

Your rough mix sounds better than what other people call final lol. Honestly I think that only the vocals need some treatment. Cause this is a nice song with a very mellow mood.
