OK, squeezed one more in there! Finally tuned my guitar right for this one.
I share this one at the risk of sounding like a junkie, I know. Not my poison but I have plenty. Hopefully someone can relate based on their own.
Would be cool to add some sort of ethereal instrument in there. And spend more time on my vocals. Such a wish list I've acquired :-)
Thanks so much for listening this year. Now I rest and listen.
Life on the Freeway
A perfect Friday night
Sprawled out and dreaming of floating in the sky
I can hear music but I can’t
Open my eyes.
I feel nothing
Just sick and sweet
Riding waves on the ocean deep
No pain, no pain, no gain
Don’t worry about me babe
Just taking time off from
Life on the freeway.
My head spun left and right
Now I try to hold it on with all my might.
Sitting still as stone
Where it finally feels okay to be alone.
I feel nothing
Just sick and sweet
Riding waves on the ocean deep
No pain, no pain no gain
Don’t worry about me babe
Just taking time off from
Life on the freeway.
BRIDGE
Something can’t be right
Just yesterday I was full of fight
Don’t judge me
For soothing a lonely heart.

Ohh my favourite so far.. so gorgeous! Love everything about it. I really love your authentic vocal delivery..
@rwc Mar 2022
Really nice song. I really like the fingerpicked guitar. Great vocals – and the harmonies in the chorus work really well.
@chrisshepard Mar 2022
This world has too much over-processed electronic ready-made corporate shlock. It's refreshing to hear some raw and authentic and breathy...Album-ready for people who actually listen to music.
@dzdandcunfsd Mar 2022
OH this is fabulous! and I think VERY relatable to anyone as @kenficara said doesn't have to be a substance vacation... I've shut down more times than I'll ever admit just to overwhelming depression :D
This is captivating just 1v1, but yeah I don't think some ethereal delay/reverb saturated slide and/or something bowed would be a detriment to something already so intimate.
@andygetch Mar 2022
I love this song. I'm hearing a very relatable feeling of sadness, with a bit of letting go, in the lyric and vocals. Well played!
@roy Mar 2022
This has a moody, dark feeling to it musically; suits the subject matter. Your singing and the beauty of your voice helps lift the subject matter from what might a depressing song to one of hope and forgiveness. Thats true artistry!
@kvnwoodruff Mar 2022
Really beautiful. Great playing and love the harmonies. I think you buried the meaning pretty poetically, at least I think..
@richaaaay Mar 2022
This is delightful. A little somber but so well done. The delicate guitar and such a relaxed vocal delivery. It sounds very sincere and authentic. The gentle delivery, your phrasing, the quiet harmonies, the inflections…it’s all very inviting. Like this a lot…
@nancycunning Mar 2022
Mmmm. so glad to find more of your gorgeous songs. I don't think it's missing anything at all. Sick and sweet is how the song feels. So beautiful and so painful at the same time.
@halfwayhome Mar 2022
The guitar, the sound, pace, playing, all just perfectly spot on. Over this, a gently vulnerable, but strangely at-peace delivery of an evocative lyric, strung to a melody that helps us feel the highs and the lows.
@kenficara Mar 2022
Substances or no this will speak to anyone who’s dealt with depression and/or anxiety. Especially that bridge. Lovely harmonies as always, and the fingerpicking is perfect. (Instrumentally, it needs a harmonica of course! Or harmonitronica.) And maybe tomorrow you’ll be full of fight again.
@leavesong Feb 2022
This is absolutely gorgeous. I could hear a little drum kick in at the "my head spun" verse. This song is the right kind of drug. Congrats for writing it. Cheers.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
The vocal has a floaty ethereal feel that matches the tone of the lyric well-- the protagonist of the lyric doesn't really like the trip but feels like they *have* to is the impression I get. A very pretty tune for a lyric with a lot of interior darkness.
