I usually close with an instrumental, but it was uninspired and at the last minute this lyric happened. Just a quick live take.
Who's to blame for all my suffering
Who's to blame if not myself
It's a shame so I'm left here wondering
Why I'm still blaming someone else
So take away take away the rage
What if there's nothing else left
Except the pain that I could wallow in
That's a fate that I can't face
Hold on
I climbed so high never looked back down
Forgotten where I came from
But there was a time that I could walk that line
A time when I believed that I could fly
Hold on

I like those moving chords with some low strings left open to drone. Really gives it atmosphere.

You didn't want to go for 15 with the instrumental? :D
I don't know what order this was written in, but that third verse in particular works really well.

Lovely picking. The lyrics resonate on a deep level. This touches on topics I've been struggling with recently--blame, shame, and pain. I love how the "hold on" contrasts with the verses. Nicely done.

Right away I'm drawn in by the chord progression - dark mood for sure. And the lyrics and phrasing follow it well. I love the fills between the verses. I like the reflection in the lyric.

Lovely guitar work. Your vocal feels raw and full of emotions. Feeling pain with nobody to blame is a tough spot. I appreciated the simplicity of the "hold on". It is enough.

The first thing that struck me about this was the lyrics (I read through them while I was waiting for the demo to load). A very honest bit of introspection, and powerful in how plainly all is put. I like that both strengths and weaknesses are acknowledged, what has been done and what could yet be.
The delivery was perfect for this: not dressed up or polished, but raw, unadorned and spontaneous. The way your two-word refrain gently soars is almost haunting.

The first two lines, yeah, very nice. And letting go of the rage not knowing what will fill your heart after, I get that's hard. But at least there's a place that can be filled with something else.
A thinky song, with nice music and vocals. I'll be back later to listen to more songs.

That lofty precarious place is so nicely put here. The edge is there and it builds to it nicely....

Yes! What a gorgeous switch to parallel minor in the chorus. I really like how the oh flows right into "hold".
It's funny, I play the verse chords all the time when I'm fiddling on the guitar. It's just a natural thing for my hands to go to. And I have several songs when I use that Am variation, including two where I also go to the second chord as well. But I never thought to put it all together! Brilliant!

There's a lot of feeling in this song, feeling we all share. Good to hear it given a voice.
