FilKONtario has a songwriting contest for a Penguin Sea Shanty. This one is to the tune of the Wellerman.
The emperor penguins go to sea
When the weather turns wintery
They search for a mate in the colony
A family to grow
Chorus:
Soon may the penguins come
To guard their eggs in the icy sun
One day when the hatching is done
They'll watch their nestlings go
For the hatching to succeed
Of warmth the egg is in need
So, father warms it, yes indeed,
Resting on his toes
(chorus)
For two months or maybe more
The male penguin remains ashore
Warming the egg up with his core
All food he does forgo
(chorus)

The lyrics on this are really clever! I think to do The Wellerman proud you should add some harmonies-this was a fun idea. I'm a uke player too so I enjoyed this.

I was honestly expecting a Linux song. Cute song, and accurate to the best of my knowledge.
