Slamming bowls of Lucky Charms and DAWing outside of my comfort zone got me over the finish line!
I wasn’t so sure about this one at first because I don’t usually write in the DAW. After I gave it a bit more love, I was actually pleased with how it turned out.
Lyrically, this one was mostly stream of consciousness, which I think can be a revealing thing. I mostly toyed around with an old Casio keyboard, some VST synths, and vocal loops. I think my favorite thing about this is the way it builds and the movement when the second verse comes in. I also like the “drop” before the last chorus.
I was standing on the corner
In the middle of the street
I was wondering how it looks when
Two journeys meet
I was building up the walls, yeah
With the mortar and the bricks, oh
And I was wondering if a window
Might be a way back home
Chorus:
In the desert, buzzards circling overhead
Do they know that I ain’t even close to dead?
When I’m gone what will become of what was me?
Just some friends and just some laughter, memories.
V2
I was watching all the trees grow
Shrugging off February snow
Waiting quietly, patiently
For the coming of a late spring
And I was thinking bout my own road
How it loops back and over
And how everything dies and grows
How everything is cyclical
(Chorus)
Bridge/outro thingy:
There’s still sunshine, there’s still storms
There’ll always be waves crashing on my shore

Solid song! Rock anthem for sure. Good lyrics and great production. The verses are poignant and the outro is wave-your-hands-in-the-air good.

Wow this is great. The Chorus so powerfully singing out over the sad lyrics and just when you think it is over that amazing guitar line coming though at the end. Beautiful.

Congrats on your trophy! Glad I could bust your Zong. This is so cool as it is very different than anything I've heard from you. The only similarity is it is top notch in every way like always. This almost has a BeeGees feel. You may have been channeling Maurice Gibb here. Great production too.
