I met my father in a pub, in a dream.
I said, “It’s been a while.”
“Ten years have passed; it’s gone so fast -
You won’t believe the things you’ve missed.”
“How’s your mother doing?” he asked me.
“She sorted out the debts, made a few friends.
The last few years were hard
But she’s getting by, if a little lonely.”
He asked about the house.
I said, “Well - it’s still standing...”
He smiled and said,
“I guess that’s the main thing.”
Then he asked about my sister.
“To be honest,” I said, “I wondered if you’d seen her.”
Then the bell for last orders rang;
Time flies by when you’re drinking.

Interesting story telling, reveals so much in the their banter. “Time flies by when you’re drinking.” Unexpected conclusion, kind of comical.
