Feb 2022 folk intense piano tribute
This song was inspired by the resolve of the Ukrainian people in this time of trouble. I didn’t say anything earlier just so I wouldn’t come off as exploitive. But yes, this is how I feel. Recorded on an Ipad Mini 5 using Audio Evolution Studio, via a Centrance MixerFace R4 and and MXL 990 mic. Backing by Chordbot.
Personal note: Needs another verse
I woke up in the early dawn
All of my neighbors were gone
The trees were empty of leaves
The flowers no longer held seeds
The grass was left in a patch
My door had a broken latch
Yet my house was still
Just the wind defining my will
Refrain: And will they return soon
Will they keep coming
Though the houses burned down
Some of us are still around
Waiting
The charred fences still glow
Undeterred by the new fallen snow
I stand my ground not in vain
For the horizon to rise again

Some powerful imagery here. I love the last lines of the penultimate verse 'I stand my ground not in vain/for the horizon to rise again' - provides a moment of hope in dark times. Your vocal is really emotive. #tit4tat

Great turns of phrase. I especially like "The charred fences still glow, undeterred by the new fallen snow."
