The pandemic of 20/21 reveals the fragility of our world and the planet in general.
During the last century mankind has evolved in ways that could not be appreciated by those who lived during that time. Technology and communication have enabled our lives to change, prosper and succeed in many ways. Despite this evolution we often respond to our situation in ways similar to those in the past. The cause of our fear is sinister and unforgiving.
‘You don’t feel my presence
When I’m prowling at your door’
Music and arrangement by: Garry Kirby (Gm7)
Lyrics by: Jamie May (@darbyam)
Sung by: Jamie May (@darbyam)
At Your Door
This time you have learned
Some hundred years and more
Still I’m marching unconcerned
Now and always like before
Last time there no sense
Soldiers marching off to war
You don’t feel my presence
When I’m prowling at your door
Chorus
You won’t know I’m coming
You won’t know I’m here
I have been here many times
And still, you can’t say where
Silently....... Prowling at your door
This tour will not be like
The times like this before
Armed with some new insight
You need to even up the score
About your new connection
Aware and so much more
Believe in your protection
When I’m prowling at your door
Chorus

What a powerful sentiment - a sinister part of our nature that, if not this time, will surely eventually be our undoing as a species, civilization, etc. if we don't collectively learn to overcome our instincts to problems that are more abstract than our brains were designed for.
The musical arrangement is just right - "prowling," in its own sense. Has plenty to say, but never really overpowers, instead letting us ruminate on the lyrical message.

Sweet. Really like the tone on those guitars. I could imagine Ryan Adams doing this. Nice collab!

Another nice collab between you two. Nice groove going on in the back and the vocals sit well on top. Electric guitar adds some nice spice.
Lyrics are well-written. Enjoyed the listen. Thanks for sharing!! #tit4tat

Funkier than I expected from the tags!
I like the pacing and phrasing of the vocal, lots of space, interesting hesitations that reinforce the emotion of the lyric.
Cool panning of the guitars, gives it a big airy feel.

This has a little Talking Heads feel to it. I like that melodic guitar line that comes in and out of the song. Nice vocal delivery. Enjoyed this…listened twice.

I like the slightly proggy vibe I'm getting. Lyrics that personify "the fear" I guess, and leading to some optimism for the future. Wise and timely.

Beautiful song and collaboration. Very meaningful.

Sweet groove! Fun panning with the guitars. Poignant lyrics.

Lovely, I'm getting all kinds of laid back Steely Dan groovy feels. Musically and vocally. The lyrics cut to our recent historical predicament. The chorus is a bit of an earworm too.

Great collab! It’s so great when talents blend together so well. The guitar carries the vocals nicely, and the words are accentuated by that steady, forceful rhythm. It’s a sad stare the world is in for sure. I’m glad there’s music to help us sort through it.
