Wacha says - Cindy brought this song to my attention a few days ago, she has a knack at suggestion lyrics thast fit me well. I love the lyrics but was a bit backed up on my collabs, I took pretty much all the weekend off to deal with some personal stuff but wanted to make sure I got the collabs I had agreed to completed. I wasn't sure which way to take this, I actually wanted to do a more of an electronic take on it but time wasn't on my side for that so I went with more of a stripped down, Cowboy Junkies The Trinity Session vibe which I think works nicely. I'd like to revisit this with some more time and let the arrangement build as it goes. This is the first take of the guitar and vocals but I'm pretty happy with the vocals.
I looked at the lyrics as someone who falls under a vampire's spell. They are aware something is wrong but are powerless to stop it.
Warning Signs
Dark red lips
Pale white skin
Pitch black hair
Much too thin
Dark red nails
Pale blue eyes
Pitch black soul
Unheard cries
Chorus
I returned
Time and again
I came back
Into your den
I was hooked
Your blood was mine
Why didn't I listen
To the warning signs?
Dark red heart
Pale empty hands
Pitch black tongue
Was this your plan?
Dark red blood
Pale lifeless me
Pitch black sky
I'm no longer free
Chorus
I returned
Time and again
I came back
Into your den
I was hooked
Your blood was mine
Why didn't I listen
To the warning signs?

I dig the Trinity Session vibe - love that album!
Great lyrics - concise, plenty of room for vocal exploration, which you sure do.
Excellent collab!

That really is a perfect musical selling for those lyrics. Spooky & regretful!

Love that, a nice, dark write and I love this style from Catherine, she has great tone in this range and her playing is amazing. Great Collab!

Cindy, I dig how you explore the dark side in your lyrics. Poignant lyrics, very strong. And I'm glad wacha picked them up and gave the lyrics flesh and bones. Raw and emotional, can't go wrong here!

This is really lovely for such a dark song. I love the gritty guitar and your wonderful soaring and yearnful vocal. Its a perfect fit! I also really like the somewhat vagueness of the lyric as well... doesn't specifically have to be about a vampire, just some blood/life sucking bad relationship as well :D Great work!

Certainly looks a vampirish lyric! Nice n slowly done, which seems just right. Sounds like a song that would fit perfectly into my fav vampire show, Moonlight! Very nice.

I love that guitar sound you got going on here and oh my how your voice soars with such a beautiful melody. I not sure what songs are vampire songs but this is as good as any i heard ;-) . I am simply adoring the progressions so casual but smooth between the verse and chorus. I can imagine watching this in a huge festivalfielf with lighters all over the place. Top stuff

I didn't read this lyric as necessarily 'vampire' (could be about a real goth person), but the grungy guitar and haunting vocal melody paints a bleak portrait of someone pulled into an unexpected/unwanted relationship.

I don't know why so many people write songs about vampires this year. But I really loved the lyrics. The phrasing is just like @wacha needs it. It has a cool laid back and calm feeling.

You nailed it! This would be great in a vampire movie! I love the way you took it and your vocals are exceptional! Honestly takes my breath. Thank you!!
