What is war?
What is war?
When a ten year old huddles under a blanket
With a siblings diapers and a pink backpack
Fleeing from men who made up their minds with weapons
What is war
Blood on the road and ambulance sirens screaming
With cold feet, no heart beat using a portable potty across the road
CPR and a wrecked car waiting
What is war
when you fall off your bike and a new learner driver leaves tyre marks on your knee, your shoulder
And a week later you still need emergency surgery
And the surgeon is worried about your skin healing
What is war
When you lift up your head and everything is blue
The sky, your heart, your life because it is the lense you see it through
Scared to step outside and face the world others rat race past
Life
Is not fair
Is cruel
Is breathing in
Is breathing out
Everything is war
Everything is not
Everything keeps spinning
Until it’s not.
You got-to live it
Go to love it
Make the best of it
Before it stops.

Harsh but true. Any condemnation is not enough but try we must
