Music/Piano: Frank Sugrue
Lyrics/Vocals: Terry Sugrue
You were so small
Skating in the warmth
Of the low winter sun
I held your hat while you laughed at the cold
I stood by
and you drifted away
You weren’t afraid of the signs out there
You were always so bold
There was no sense shouting for you
No sense in screaming
No sense in pushing
No sense in pleading with you
No use talking about how
How you were losing your time
You were so sure
You knew where to go
Playing a game only you’d know Only you would know
I held your place
Knowing you’d cry in the cold
You stopped reading the signs out there
And the story they told
There was no sense shouting for you
No sense in screaming
No sense in pushing
No sense in pleading with you
No use talking about how
How you were losing your time
I look for you now
As my breath hangs in the
Winter air
You disappeared just like that
You never got old

Oh how sad but beautiful! Love that gentle piano accompaniment. This is such a lovely melody. I really enjoyed listening.
