ZeCoop: Well, after your big heavy metal hair band finishes the show and you are sitting around... what is the obvious thing to happen next? Well, write a soft acoustic love song, obviously. (Maybe this will get an 80's 'power-ballad' treatment in the future, haha). I had one more acoustic song sitting around, so I finished it up and threw it over the border into Canada. Alex, once again, turned it into a wonderful love song to his wife. I love it when that happens! It's a great way for me to end FAWM. I might have a couple random things after this, but this is the last proper song and full collaboration this year. I appreciate Alex and all of his wonderful FAWM contributions so much. He is a true steward of FAWM and I love writing music with him! :)
Alex: Thanks for writing with me again John-- I am so thankful for our continuing collaborative work and our friendship. As usual, a love song to my wife :)
It's a melancholy time of year
As winter drags on, things are blear
It seems at times I fail to cope
I feel I'm at the end of my rope
Pacing round staring at the walls
Feeling trapped in the same old halls
Like an old picture in a frame
Moment after moment is the same
Looking for some hope
Dreaming of some hope
Praying for some hope
Yet you are always there with me
Yeah you never give up on me
Yes you always will love me
You are very precious to me
Time to roll up the window blind
Time to release my blinkered mind
Time to break out of the self made cage
That has me seething in internal rage
Dying for some hope
Looking for some hope
Dreaming of some hope
Praying for some hope
Yet you are always there with me
Yeah you never give up on me
Yes you always will love me
You are very precious to me
So let's keep holding tight my dear
Your love for me is crystal clear

This needs a 80s power ballad revamp! I this a 12 string? Or why does it sound like? Cool vocal melody and full of emotion.

This is lovely. Could certainly be a power ballad, but I rather like this acoustic treatment and the heartfelt delivery.

Yes, I totally hear power ballad in this! That step up, step down figure puts in mind several classic power ballads. And the flow of the song with those rests gives it a very natural, conversational feel, with the truncated end making it seem like something that continues on- perfect for the sentiment. Nice collab guys!

ahhh simply beautiful . Love the sound once again of those rather special acoustics John and the simplicity but beauty of the chord movements is treated so delicately with the melodies by Alex. the voice is full of emotion and a lovely dedication to your wife. Top stuff

Love this! The instrumentation is very pleasant and well-played. The melody is solid, too. I just released some myself, too. I'm not as productive as you guys but it was my most productive month since last spring, I think. So my first experience with FAWM has been really great and seeing you and other people here, creating and supporting, was very encouraging. Thanks.

Really beautiful sounds from the instrumentation, love the pauses and soft keys behind the guitar. The love story is great and Alex, you have such an authentic delivery that always impresses.

We always wait for these collabs and never know what it will bring. It's a really nice love song. Very uplifting, really solid guitar holds it so well . Lovely song to start my day

Ah… it’s early in the morning and as my first gift of the day two of my favourite people on earth have posted a stunning song collaboration full of hope and beauty! How lucky am I on this last day of FAWM??? Those crystalline jangly guitar sounds and the gratitude and love that oozes from those lyrics… sweet sweet FAWMy goodness.
@jjmickey Feb 2022
Well done. Everything sounds so nice and clear, and the lyrics are very nice and lovely
