This one started pretty early in the month but I’ve only just had the time to add the guitars and come up with lyrics.
Quite a fun one this, I wanted to really showcase a long meandering guitar solo inspired by Frusciante’s solo work on The Empyrean. There’s a lot of Chilis inspiration throughout but with some harder rock elements thrown in too. Pretty happy with the outro and some of the fills, which I took a bit of time to get right and make stand out.
Lyrically, this is all about the passage of time and the pitfalls of my own tendency to procrastinate, and playing around with the idea of that on an individual basis, for a couple who are both procrastinators and at points as a kind of metaphor for the dangers of inaction more generally. Also I got to mention dinosaurs which is always a treat haha.
Travel light and keep it under lock and key
Like a dinosaur, extinct to most but you’re not to me
If a flaming meteor was dropping from the sky
We’d turn our backs and say “I’ll be there in a little while”
All in good time
All in good time
As life passes by
Don’t you think that we should try?
Another year ticks away
Hour by hour and day by day
We’re not just procrastinators
You and I are more than pale imitations
But all in good time
One small step for man is a giant leap for me
If I leave now I might be there by ten past 3
I’m out of time I’m out of time I’m out of time
All in good time all in good time all in good time
And if we wake from the global apocalypse
if I come around to the taste of your languid lips
Is the simple truth too hard to swallow
Maybe we could just put it off until tomorrow
But all in good time
All in good time
As life passes by
Don’t you think that we should try?
Another year ticks away
Hour by hour and day by day
We’re not just procrastinators
You and I are more than pale imitations
But all in good time
Has life passed us by
Another year ticked away
Are we just procrastinators
Are we just pale imitations
All in good time
All in good time

Good solid rock song. Like the funk in this. It had me moving along with it. Great groove. Really like you melody too and what a great vocal.

"long meandering guitar solo"??? Yes, please.
But before we get to it, I'm getting this 'funk/alt-rock' flavor you put in your tags.
I gotta say you do this quite expertly.
Lovely riffy groove during the chorus on the guitar; sounds so good.
Nice vocal melodies during the verses, highlighted by that lively bass.
I am familiar with maybe 2 red hot chili peppers songs, and one of them is only like a small bit that I don't even know if I got the words right, but it pops up in my mind often and randomly - something like "keep it away, keep it away, keep it away now!" lol
Even still, it does seem like I can hear the influence, due to hearing their performances on tv during their popularity boom.
Ah here's the solo.
Sweet bends and sustained note (terminology probably ain't right at all lol) and then you really get into it, all while there's another guitar panned to the left doing earworm stuff.
Could've been even longer, but some people are never satisfied, right? lol
This sounded great all the way through, man. Excellent guitarin', arrangement, production, vocals, mixing...everything.

Great energy to this one, love the false chorus into the real chorus - lovely build and the melody on the chorus is great. Interesting to hear the wah flicks coming through and just great guitar work as usual!
If you ever go back to it, I think a bit more interaction between the drums and guitar during the solo would add more neergy and excitement. Speaking of which the solo is superdupa epic, I wish I could play like you - you're my hero!
The 'all in good time' melody is very chillis, love how the song kinda slinks into the room at the start, really cool intro. I'm not sure about languid lips, would you really like to wake up to someone's lazy, floppy, languid lips :)
Nice work dude!

The guitars are crazy good on this one - those wah harmonics, and the meandering lines all intertwined. Love it and add in the melody vocal and lyric - this one gives so much and was worth the wait. Fun and funky, with plenty of grit and attitude. It all works so well... :)
