Poetry snaps
A girl I knew, she took it all
In a fog of Kools and alcohol
Packed the car, cleaned out our flat
And left me with the gutter rats
But I don’t mind this broken heart
You gotta suffer for your art
And if that’s true just wait and see
You haven’t heard the last from me
Real bohemian
I’m a real bohemian
Scrawling lines upon a page
And trying not to act my age
I cannot find the words to say
I lost something along the way
A poetry more commonplace
These battle scars upon my face
The feeling that I’ve blown my chance
With a habit that I can’t finance
Real bohemian
I’m a real bohemian
You bled me out and tossed aside
The child cowering inside
I can’t get back the things I’ve lost
Waiting on the Pentecost
The money from collection plates
Aren’t gathered for the apostates
I’ve joined the junkie’s jubilee
And fading like a memory
Real bohemian
I’m a real bohemian
I’m real bohemian
I’m a real bohemian

Change the Kools to cloves, and the girl might be someone I know.
The first chorus felt like you were trying to convince yourself, and then the whole thing slid into bleakness. Good show!

i realized about halfway through this was a 4-chord loop and went to check and sure enough you tagged it as such! :) has a bit of a tears for fears vibe i think because of the darkish lyrics and the progression, i think you did a nice job mixing it up melodically to break up the different parts while keeping with the same chords and cadence!

this is quite powerful and quite good-- those long sung lines (and the excellent singing in general) add to the intense lyric.. nicely done!
