I wrote this song last year after my chorus director (who's name just happens to be Melanie) said, "have you noticed that there aren't any songs written about someone named Melanie?" I pulled the video from the recording of our Zoom rehearsal the following week, when I told her that now there's a love song called Melanie.
This FAWM I was going to complete a 4-part a cappella arrangement for this song. I completed writing a first draft of the score but didn't have time to record it.
INTRO (this part is not in the video):
Inside this vault I call my heart
There lives a precious memory
And in the moment before sleep
Hers is the only face I see
Melanie, Melanie, Melanie, Melanie
Melanie with the blueberry eyes
She and I beneath the willow
Evening fades into ebony skies
Teardrops falling upon my pillow
I fall asleep
In the warmth of her memory
I guess it wasn't meant to be
Yet in my dreams I only see
Melanie, Melanie, Melanie, Melanie
Melanie with the blueberry eyes
I can't recall why I ran from her
Far from home now I realize
What we had that distant summer
I fall asleep
In the warmth of the days of she and I
In the warm
In the blue summery sky
She and I
Melanie, Melanie, Melanie, Melanie
