Nancy Cunningham's output this year makes most of us look lazy! She sent me this lovely lyric and I managed to build a tune around it. Thanks Nancy!
Nancy: When Andy sent me a recording of this song, I told him that if I heard it on the radio, I would say "I wish I'd helped that one." Thanks, Andy, for building a bridge and making the whole scene come to life.
DEMOLITION EXPERT
He’s been imploding buildings, must be a dozen years
Don’t take more than dynamite and then that sudden fear
The whole kit and caboodle collapses right in place
Popcorn ceilings, pile carpets, gone without a trace
He’s a demolition expert, it’s right there on his card
Demolition expert, destruction like it’s art
He’s a demolition expert but she destroyed his heart
He’s a demolition expert, it says so on his card
Between Knoxville and Oswego, just south of Sixty-Six
Something finally came apart that he can’t see how to fix
Off and on for decades and he would have stayed for more
Between Knoxville and Oswego, behind that liquor store
Any tears can be explained away by all the dust
When you’re the man your colleagues will just take your word on trust

A delight the layered lyric and a sensitive setting. Elegant presentation, much appreciated. Applause!

These are wonderful lyrics! I really like lyrics that have 2 levels of things going on - what you describe and is right in front of the listener, and then little clues as to what is going on inside of the character - like "she destroyed his heart" - which in those 4 little words tells us so much. I love the melodic treatment and the performance - beautiful vocals and guitar picking. This is one of those collabs where the lyrics and melody go so well together you would think the whole song was written by one person. Really nice song and collab!

such a powerful lyric, delicately portrayed by Andy. this is a great collab. it demonstrates the fragility of a broken heart, even for those who are used to things blowing up. 'He’s a demolition expert but she destroyed his heart' great work!

A very good song collaboration by two of the people that made FAWM 2022 a very special one for me. You’ve both enriched the entire experience and I look forward to seeing you all next year.

These lyrics are so good. Real dynamite. Explosive. I love the contrast that it is actually a sad love story. And not heavy metal ;-) I like the vulnerability in @andygriff performance. Great collab.
