Feb 2022 rock instrumental
This is merely an unused track. I uploaded it only to reach 14 songs. It was an attempt to flesh out Nadine's section of "Nunavut Gold Rush" into a full song, but it devolved into whatever this is when I went bananas on the drums and sped up out of desperation.
This FAWM, was good. I mean "Nunavut Gold Rush" is a creative high point for me and really quite a song. I didn't finish an album of songs, and ultimately I'm left with wishing I could make other kinds of music then I do.
I've been listening to Prince, Janet Jackson and the Isley Brothers a lot lately, and it just makes me wish I had the abilities to make nice Pop songs and stuff that really grooves. Go For Your Guns is such a great album and it seems so simple (though it isn't). The drums are just tight and grooving, no need to go insane and smash everything. That album is so amazing to me and it's such a kick in my ass that says "you need a new approach".
I've always wanted to make nice Pop songs because that's what I love listening to the most. Pete Townshend's "Face Dances Pt. II" has been my great obsession, I've listened to that song so much and I just can't imagine making something like that. It's so brilliant.
I understand Rock music, I don't understand much else.
But I am who I am. Music is my outlet for channeling my destructive and chaotic energy. I have a burning feeling in me to smash things and make Rock 'n Roll, it is my musical calling in life. It's what I do. It's easy to disregard your own abilities and take them for granted just because you can't do something else.
I have improved my drumming, and my bass playing has gone from buried in the mix to actual being audible and people have noticed it! No one ever really commented on my bass before, because I never cared about it. Now that I'm only playing with my fingers and putting a bit more care into my basslines my music is sounding better!
Honestly, my music has NEVER sounded this good before. The improvement in sound is so clear, and it's a big step up for me. I have been improving atleast, and the Who really have resparked me and completely revitalized my love for music. It's all thanks to them that I am at this point in my musical journey. The Who saved my soul from sinking into the abyss of dullness.
Well, that's my little rant. I had to get one out of my system before FAWM was over with. See you guys next time, maybe with some new sounds, who knows.

Well I think your stuff *does* groove.
Yes, excellent liner notes.
And yes, your music *has* improved (tho it was pretty kickass to begin with for sure).
Yeah, really nice guitar soloing.
The sped up bit was a nice touch.
Keep on rokkin out.

I was reading the liner notes and almost forgot that there was a song to listen. :) What a nice rocking song it is. Good song title too. Now that you've mentioned, the bass playing is better. That rave up section is so Who ( even though I don't remember them doing rave ups ). Great way to find your own style is to let The Who influence you. :)

Kurtis you don't have to sound like everybody else. I always wanted to create some banging hard dubstep or be a good singer-songwriter, but I never understood sounddesign or how to fill a room with one instrument. Whatever I tried it sounded bad. I was halfway on a career as edm producer until I fell in love with epic rock. Writing something that you feel has been a massive game changer eventhough I didn't have the means. Rock and metal music without playing guitar? You're nuts. I am and I don't care.
I'm glad that you realised that you are a rocker from the deepest inside. Maybe you can carry the spirit of rock into other genres like I carried my love for epic chord progressions from electro to metal. This is what I call authenticity.
Long story short. Keep on rocking in whatever sense. This little demo here shows that you are full of energy and creativity even if Nunavut burned you out. I look forward to working with you.

I certainly enjoyed this. I love the energy of hard rock and this fits perfectly. It's a pretty catchy song. I like the change in tempo in the middle, and the solo is super sweet.
I think this these words of yours need to find their way into some lyrics: 'I have a burning feeling in me to smash things and make Rock 'n Roll'. :)

This could be the epilogue of Gold Rush. It's a great rocking instrumental. I really like the speed up in the middle, it gives the song a whole new edge that then develops into that awesome guitar solo. Very cool!
And thanks again for asking me to help out with Gold Rush & Don't. Both were a blast to work on & I love the final results.
Stay warm in T-Bay, my friend!
See You In The Shadows…
