I love a train song, so I thought I'd end FAWM with a train song. Actually, this is more of a where-is-the-train song. All of these things have happened to me at some point.
Morning alarm, snooze once or twice
Force open eyes, turn on the light
Drag yourself out of bed
Time to stagger down the stairs
Clock must be fast, better leave
Fall out the door, still half asleep
No time for coffee, train's nearly due
Run to the station, stand in the queue
You might as well have had a cappuccino on the way.
There's leaves on the line so you'll be late for work today
Work at home, day is done
Evening now, time to have some fun
Go to town, stay out all night,
Glass of wine, enjoy a pint,
Get some dinner, see a play
Grab your coat, get to the train
Check the times, on display
Yet again, all delayed
Should have ordered pizza, had a quiet night at home
The signal failed at Croydon, you'll have to miss the show
Take a break, you've worked so hard,
Maybe Paris, Maybe Prague,
Got the tickets, packed the case,
To the airport, play it safe,
Leave lots of time, take no risks,
Get there early, have a drink
Train to the airport, going well
We are sorry to announce...
No-one's going anywhere, you'll stay at home tonight
The train has broken down and so you're going to miss your flight

I love the lyrics here. I wish I could go to some of these places! It's got a nice chug-chug-chug feeling to it like a train. Your performance is also so fun to listen to!

Your style is delightful. I'm bobbing my head along with the music. You took a story that in reality is intensely frustrating, and turned it into an enjoyable journey. That uke sounds great!

I like the train-like rhythm to the strum pattern which compels the lyric to its devastating but completely appropriate ending.

I've heard lots of train songs, but I think this is the first "missing train" song I've heard! Musically it chugs along perfectly to match the subject, and the story in the lyrics is highly relatable to me. Well, except for the train part, those are not a common thing in my parts. Nevertheless, a very entertaining story, well playing on the uke, and delivered with rye resignation.
