I am not sure if anyone has tried to write for and construct an orchestra out of FAWMers before, but I had a go. ALL REAL INSTRUMENTS AND PLAYERS ON THIS TRACK(!)
It was meant to be a song with vocals but I have tried to arrange it as an instrumental piece so you can hear what I composed and the performances at least. I am going to post it 5 times to give each player the credit they deserve. Deal with it.
the players:
violins @gammafied
flute @kahlo2013
flute @jaegerin
clarinet @helenseviltwin
trumpet @tjeff
Of the parts I scored, only the trombone part is missing. There is also a version without the synth/piano here: https://fawm.org/songs/137344/
If anyone tries to do this (multiple orchestral collaborators) in the future, be aware of potential issues about tuning, time/tempo keeping, recording quality etc. I didn't send a guide track, that would have helped the first 2 issues. But I am pretty happy with out it turned out.
Thanks everyone!

It warms my heart to read "All real instruments and players". This is way off the usual FAWM path, but it shouldn't be. This is a community. I'm impressed by the skill of each player. This could have easily been what my bluegrasser wife calls "a group grope" but it sounds great: tuning, dynamics, the interplay of intruments: like everyone's in the scoring room of Abbey Road playing together. I love how the cello appears with the ostinato almost at the beginning and then the whole piece plays off that. Really nice writing for the woodwinds, and the trumpet is integrated really well and is played with classical skill and tone (and does a nice stand-in for a horn too, if my ears don't deceive me). I'm impressed with the ambition to write and arrange this, and then make it happen.

Awesome! Love the drama of it, with the violin leading piece with it's driving, bold strokes. Also love the moment the trumpet shines through. But of course, this is team work here and everyone is a winner in my book :-) Also, didn't hear anything glaringly out of tune. Congrats on the success of this ambitious piece!

This wonderful. The composition and instrumentation. So happy to hear the contribution from FAWMers. Violin, flutes, trumpet and clarinet…how cool. I listened twice to take it all in. Very much enjoyed this change of pace.

This is really nice, and a fantastic thing to do.

This is so cool! What an ambitious idea for FAWM, and you and your collaborators totally pulled it off. I'm impressed!
@jaegerin Feb 2022
Great job, @gregthehero! It sounds fab all put together, and it was really fun being part of it. Thanks for posting the different versions so we all get it down as a collab :-)

Hey! Thanks for doing this! It was a great piece and I am grateful to be a part of it! Wonderful to hear how it all came together! Great job pulling it all together. And yeah, sadly I just had my iPhone and it’s built in mic to record to in a voice recorder. I will need to get some better recording process for next time!
