So firstly this is going to be revisited. Harmonies to add, better mixing, other instruments needed etc.
But its getting near closing time so voila!
I had the piano riff from the beginning of FAWM and have simply not got around to making anything of it, until yesterday, so this is a bonus track
Lyrics wise , i was musing on the situation in Ukraine and then went into a wider picture of how ingrained we all are with our own individual lives , especially many of our leaders, so i wanted to somehow reflect how precious this tiny little glode is and lets face it , its our only home.
So much of the damage caused is through a lack of compassion for our fellow man, when people are so self inovlved in their own importance or, in the case of war other priorities which neglect the human side of life.
So its told from the perspective of a person who is living a normal life in a country, a person like all of us with their own inner demons, and how that person's world which can at times seem shattered by their own mind, then has to wake up the reality of what is actually going on .
So there's still one more collab to do. Again i want to thank everyone for such an incredible FAWM, all the comments are so appreciated, and there are lots of people i will be visiting in March to catch pu on my listening.
Huge musical creative love to you all and thank you once again
Verse
There is a darkened scene
Woken from your dream
flashing lights and screams are all around
You feel like you won't live
Is this really it?
Have words expired when like minds bomb your home?
But its ok cos there's daylight
just another infight
waking in my mind
ther streets still echo to the hum of morning life
i'll face inner struggles and feel into my song
Go to sleep tomorrow, Is my world Ok?
Verse 2
Another darkened scene
Now this can't be a dream
flashing lights and screams are in my house
Chorus 2
And now there is no daylight
the overwhelming fear makes senses stand alert
The streets now echo to the sound of tanks and guns
Can i face this outer battle
Now i'm on my own
I can feel whats going on but is our world ok?
Bridge
The art of words dissolved have clearly now made way
what can we teach our kids, if all is resolved this way?
Chorus 3
So i'm looking down from heaven's ground
to see what's down below
A spinning ball of life perched on the precipise
maybe one day they'll learn what they've always known
connect together and you'll all see earth,
As home
its our only home
don't go wrong
be as one
feel my bones

Nice song and lyrics. Definitely has an Oasis/Britpop feel to it. And sounds so good already that it would be interesting to hear it when you've added everything that you want to

I'm getting a bit of a Mansun vibe with this track. Cool vocal effects on this and the move to the bridge gives it a cool, Beatles-esque feel. Great song. It was well worth keeping the paino riff back until the end of the month!

You are such an amazingly compassionate person and you also are incredible at helping us see the truths in the world that we need to remember. Oh... and you are also a master at making hook filled masterpieces that sound gorgeous..... while saying all the things above. This is wonderful in both the thought expressed and the feel it delivers as it is listened to. It has a serious depth, but also a positive lift with powerful intensity. Amazing song, Karl... Wow. :)

You've captured the darkness - esp the flashing lights/screams/tanks and guns etc but you can't help put in a positive message which I love! Very important messages for us all, and as usual with some banging music around it from you!

Have words expired when like minds bomb your home?
Heavy questions and a very complex production. A great, emotive vocal, this is such a big song and really drives things home. Thank you for sharing in the Ukraine Thread.

I'm feeling the helplessness here: we force ourselves to go about our lives...even when we know the world and its people are struggling, 'cause what else can we do? But that doesn't mean WE feel okay. Feeling the chord/vocal melody shifts which, at times, have an Oasis feel.
@wacha Mar 2022
Really nice work on this song, there's a very big feel to the production that works well given the subject matter. You tackled a difficult subject matter quite nicely.

Some trippy production going on here, rich and exciting...
Great message on top... The fragility and the hope. Well done.
Thanks for your kind words this FabFeb, my friend. Hugs. :

Great job! Having a number of questions imbedded among the images of war and conflict is very appropriate and effective. Excellent instrumentation and arrangement, too!

I really enjoyed this song. I love your vocal inventiveness it’s just damned impressive. Not to mention the supporting music. It will be interesting to hear it after you’ve played with it more, though I like it as is. The vocals have a raw emotion to them that gets to me.
@cindyrella Feb 2022
This is incredible and I so agree. I feel like the whole world needs to hear it! Great song!

That verse riff sets a killer mood. Love the chink-chink-chink of the arp? guitar? behind it? And the chorus is HUUUUGE, like stadium lights at full bright illuminating the audience off their heads singing along huuuuge! Massive song, and a great, timely, lyric.

I couldn't agree more with your comments about how our unawareness as a species makes us forget the reality of our situation ~ that this is our only home, and we need to appreciate it and learn to demonstrate more compassion for one another and the planet ~ before it's too late for us to learn! I really love how you've put this into song from the perspective of someone who has been shaken awaken due to the extreme hardship they now face. As always, you show a lot of empathy, as well as outstanding musical strengths.

Love this, Karl. It's full on, early Oasis, great overall sound to it. But the real treat is how you shift the lyrical focus with each verse/chorus, first in and then right out. It's deftly handled, especially given it's a very live and real situation. I also loved that bridge, where you really push your vocal up into the stratosphere! Important message here, one I can get right behind :)
