My attempt at a pop/rock song.
Once on a road trip in western Canada, I found an old vintage amp in an abandoned cabin. I carted that thing around for years and finally sold/traded it to some musician guy in Portland before I moved away last year. I had a little bit of seller's remorse but I have a sweet Tele now and this song.
Production wise, it has that Better Call Saul ending, sorry about that. Just didn't have the energy to figure out how to end it properly.
in hindsight
boots were so right
and the skin tight
jeans just might
be the funniest thing
as you walked out my door
amp under your arm
your case on my floor
now I got your guitar
and you got my amp
I play it every night
by a lava lamp
that bubbles like the gas
in a glass of wine
deserved is a hard word to define
the friendship
on a road trip
found a vintage
bit of amperage
lashed it to the decks
with a rope and some wood
cigarette burns
bet the tubes are no good
moldy life magazines
from early 1970s
no electricity
did anybody play that thing?
some old miner
no fortyniner
a rant opiner
eating in a diner
was cursing the thing
he forgot to pack
when the ice on the lake melts
I'll go get it back
that cabin I left
now has my amp
used to play it every night
by an oil lamp
nasty black smoke
like an old coal mine
deserved is a hard word to define

Yep, an old Tele will keep on playing, but have you priced a set of tubes for an old amp these days?!?
Interesting story and fun retelling of it!
