@fearlesflight2014:
Iliya sent me some cool guitar parts with a walking bass line. Due to time shortages this is just a stripped back way to present the lyric I came up with, but in my head it was a full Andrew Sisters style harmony arrangement. Who knows? I might get time at the end of the week to update the demo! I hope you like the demo @leepat :) I love collaborating with you!!
@leepat :
I love it Liz! thanks for sticking with this and apologies for stealing the bass part from you :)
awesome lyric as always and I do feel this can be much bigger, what with harmonies, violins and the like.
some scatting there!!!
The Red Dress
Tonight‘s the night I wear the red dress
Tonight’s the night you’re gonna fall
I’m tired of fantasies of your kiss
Tonight you’ll heed my siren call
Let’s meet for dinner and some cocktails
I’ll wear the dress that never fails
It’s time to taste the lips I crave
I’m gonna misbehave
You won’t know what hit you
All the lust you won’t admit to
Come rushing like a river
Breaking banks in a storm
Don’t say you weren’t warned
We’ll drink and lose our inhibitions
I’ll wear the dress that’s made for sin
It’s time to cue the violins and let me in
(Instrumental)
Darling
You’ve made me suffer
This time you can’t run for cover
I need you for my lover
Tonight we both can blame the red dress
If anything gets out of hand
Tonight will be a night of excess
Tonight my good girl plans be damned
Come! Be a victim of the red dress
I know I’ll leave you wanting more
You’ll know my scheme has been a success
When my red dress slides to the floor

That bass walks swiftly, as if it planed to misbehave... Guitar jazz solos alway seem to get out of hand. It twirls and rushes like a river that broke banks in the storm.
The rythm of this piece carves for affection, the lyrics feel that it's been cut out for it to show its rush of lust.
I love the instrumentation as it is. If something had to be added I would choose some drums. Fast and light so we can feel the stress of the "it's finally happening" mood. (And what id it fails and what if it doesn't ?)
@berni1954 Mar 2022
This was a sheer delight. It sounds like something Lena Horne would have loved to sing. It's an instant jazz classic. HUGE APPLAUSE
@dock Mar 2022
Fun! I love the last line! great guitar!
@audrey Mar 2022
Love this jazzy fun and swingin' number. Very cool groove. Couldn't sit still. This is just sooo catchy. Love the vocal, the lyrics, the music - in fact, I love everything about this. What a fabulous song!
@codeenergy Mar 2022
Always love me a nice walking bassline. Perfect vocals for the instrumentation. Awesome collab guys!!
@nadine Mar 2022
This bass is so cool it learns how to walk down the stars! Like the tiny swinging guitar chops. And these vocals are ace. All these super cool swinging triplets... I'm in awe. Love that.
@timfatchen Mar 2022
Excellent jazz movement here, instrumentation is great, voice is as always. And I like the red ress especially. I'd like to be sitting down with a cocktail and just enjoying.
@guatecoop Mar 2022
Of course I had to listen to this with YOU TWO! I love this right off. So crazy how the red dress has so much implied meaning. Great progressions and playing--I'm so impressed how relaxed and natural this sounds with you both, but then again...it is you guys. Excellent collab!
@nuchoyce Mar 2022
Great combo here. A bass line thats in the pocket and silky vocals floating over top. I can see a smooth Lindy Hop with this song.
@hanley Mar 2022
Yeh, really swinging number!
It's ripe for building a full track from, but nice to hear a stripped back number too, always a test of a good song and this passes without any issues!
Great vocals and cheeky, witty lyrics to top it off.
@sailingmagpie Mar 2022
Fantastic fingerclicking vibe to this. It feels like it could slot right into the Great American Songbook. The vocals perfectly fit the excellent guitar part. Hope you get a chance harmonise it up!
@williamjames Mar 2022
Great lounge jazz band feeling. Vocals are absolutely nailing it for the jazzy style! The bass line is really groovy and and yeah, everything seems to work. I kind of like this as somewhat minimalist production.
@elesimo Mar 2022
Oh wow, this is so good. Love your vocals here, Liz, and the guitar/bass are lovely! I could listen to this all day!
@lowhum Mar 2022
the violins of sin! it's a cabaret thing for sure!
@guitarpatz83 Mar 2022
Ooh this is so slinky. Get me in a cosy, hot bar with a martini and some low lighting and a band playing this on stage and that’s all I need! Love a walking bassline and adding the guitar doing the same is just fab. The vocal is perfect for this style, and the playful sexy lyrics pair superbly. Fantastic collab guys! More of this please next year haha
@beacon Mar 2022
Damn, this is good! I love your bass and singing. Collab in 50/90?
@ceilidh Mar 2022
You had me with the bass and guitar intro! Wonderfully naughty jazz lyrics wrapped in that red dress! Definitely signals the end of the global lockdowns. Woohoo!!! :)
@zecoop Mar 2022
What a perfect match! Amazing and thoroughly enticing guitar work that is taken fully advantage of with the lyrical/vocal gymnastics. What an incredible pair you two are! This song is so much fun, both musically and the story it weaves. Loved it!
@dragondreams Mar 2022
This is so many kinds of fabulous, I don't know where to start. That backing with the wonderful walking bass part sucked me in by the ears. @leepat tees this up perfectly for Liz's superb vocal. And the lyric is wickedly, discreetly naughty. ;-)
Awesome collab folks!
@metalfoot Mar 2022
Classic 40s pop feel to this song for sure. Great vocal line and suitably sultry lyric for the genre, Liz. And fun jazzy/bluesy backing track, leepat.
@chroes Mar 2022
This song has an awesome atmosphere. Guitar and bass line are beautiful. The vocals are incredible, smooth, playful and expressive. Maybe a tiny bit too much de-essing? Maybe also a tiny bit of gain on the higher frequencies here to makr the vocals shine a bit more?
All in all, a wonderful collab, congrats!
