Feb 2022 filk folk acoustic-one-take comedy
I'm not a morning person... at all. But I work for a company that's two time zones earlier so I have to be.
The problem is I get in "the flow" of a project and time has no meaning. I start working on a song and I blink and it's 2:00 AM.
This turned out a bit longer than I was planning... which seems strangely appropriate.
First take live take.
I’m soooo tired
And it’s only 8 AM
Splash some water
On my face
Drink the coffee down
Cough and sputter
Cause I discover
I skipped the water
And tried to drink the grounds
I’m soooo tired
And it’s only 10 AM
I can’t concentrate
On work any more
I don’t know how
I will stay awake
All the way until 4
Lunch Break
Lunch Break
Yeah!!
I’m soooo tired
And it’s only 1 PM
You asked me a question
And my brain just
Went numb
Warm air
Full stomach
Napitosis here we come
This seems to happen
Fairly often
Well, every work day
I watch the clock
Slowly crawl
Until I can get away
I’ll finally get to
Make some things
That I love to make
Maybe I will write a song
Or maybe I will bake
I’m so wired
It’s only 1 AM
I’m in the zone
Making sounds
And baking cookies
I’m not sure it’s
Right to get this much
Energy from jokes
About Wookies
I’m so wired It’s only 3 AM
I’m so wired It’s only 4 AM
It's only 4:30 AM
I'm going to pay for this tomorrow

My "coffee coffee drink it down" shirts is one of my favorites. I can totally relate to this. My schedule changes nearly every day to accommodate all sorts of random things in my life schedule.
I love the massive tonal shift during the last part of the song as you finally get the energy you've been desiring. And Jen's Star Wars jokes are on point. All around this is basically an biopic about me.

The only thing you left out is the 5pm commute home while trying to stay awake enough to do so safely.

"Why isn't my keyboard fluffier?" lol That's a perfect interjection. Or question, whatever?
Also, "Well, later today."
I love this.
