my goal was to do 7 songs this FAWM and i did it!!! woo-hoo!
this one feels heavy, but i really like it. imagine two people who didn't make amends bumping into each other at a party or something. it could be from the perspective of someone who feels they're owed an apology, or maybe they're the one who needs to say "sorry" and is talking to themself.
i have some ideas for production - something like 'In The Air Tonight' or Rihanna's 'Cold Case Love' - a slow build to really explosive and groove-able percussion and drums. i could also imagine some strings. the only thing i oddly couldn't come up with ideas for were additional vocals. maybe it doesn't need any. or maybe i'm sleepy lol.
happy end of FAWM everyone!!
[verse 1]
A good day
A better night
It felt like
Faux nice
Neon glow
Familiar eye
Prepared to lie
Or flight
“How are you?”
Play it cool
Play it right
“I’m alright.”
“How you been?”
“Can’t complain
But all my head and heart are on is you”
[chorus]
Wanna say you’re sorry
But you can’t get out your head enough to heart-lead
Wanna put you at ease
But my head said that ain’t smart, though my heart ain’t that free
[verse 2]
Want to be
Anywhere
Anywhere
But here
Forget about
lonely
Now all I see
Is you only
Low hum
Chest drum
Feeling dumb
But want some
Almost
Gave in
But god! My head and heart still ache from you
[chorus]
Wanna say you’re sorry
But you can’t get out your head enough to heart-lead
Wanna put you at ease
But my head said that ain’t smart, though my heart ain’t that free
[Bridge]
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just
C’mon, won’t you just
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just say-ay-ay it
C’mon, won’t you just
C’mon, won’t you just
[chorus]
Say you’re sorry, I know that you wanna!
But you can’t get out of your head enough to heart-lead
Wanna put you at ease
But my head said that ain’t smart, though my heart ain’t that free
Wanna say you’re sorry
But you can’t get out your head enough, out your head enough to heart-lead
Wanna put you at ease
But my head said that ain’t smart, though my heart ain’t that free

This is so sultry and smooth. Your voice soars above that silky piano and bass, taking the listener to an intense emotional space. Really nice!

Congrats Savoy on making your goal! This is an awesome song concept. I like the sparse synth track - it really lets your vocals shine. The Phill Collins In The Air Tonight? Wow that would be awesome. I am going to look forward to that for sure. As always I love the structure of your lyrics and your emotive vocals and engaging Melodie’s. Well done Savoy!
