Feb 2022 morph2 minor-blues
Thought I had missed the morph chain, didn't ya? Well, no! This is a morph of @nadine's song "Love Lasts Forever." I don't know quite how to connect the dots from hers to mine, except for some of the obvious ones, but there is a connection.
Here's the morph chain if you're interested in following the whole thing.

You held my soul
My heart on a string
You held my soul in your hand
And my heart on a string
But when you don’t feel love
It don’t mean a thing
I bought you a house
Somewhere you could call home
I bought you a house in the country
So we could call it home
One night I came home late
And I found you gone
Well I understand why the world spins around
Seasons change and dreams drift away
But I don’t know how to explain
How I wound up here, standing in the rain
Thought we would last forever
That was so long ago
Oh but nothing lasts forever baby
And that was so long ago
Now I got nothing and nobody
I got nowhere to go
Nowhere to go

The brass on this reminds me of those big production blues numbers that helped Alan Parker's movie "The Commitments" make such an impact on the blues scene (and how can that possibly be more than thirty years ago, now?) There needs to be plenty of emotion in songs done in that style, or else the mood feels false. This totally delivers.

There's echoes of Pink Floyd in this bluesy piece. I haven't followed the morph chain. This song stands on its own as a torch song. (I'm getting internet interruptions which given what's happening is a bit troubling). Still if I were cut off right now this would be an appropriate song to go out on.

Love the bluesy feel to this track, especially that mournful brass in the background. It's cool how the chorus kinda takes us away from the bluesier territory briefly before we're right back in when you sing "explain."

I haven’t listened to the others yet, but I sure like where you took this one. Looking forward to listening to much more of your music. Thanks for making time to record one of mine. See you next year, oh and at the 50/90.

What a cool morph! I love that you took that idea of triplet piano and pushed the song more into blues. The chord progression in the bridge (well I understand) is so powerful. Man your voice rocks! Well done!
