Today I was at Goodwill, and a saw a large portrait of Jesus sitting halfway behind a mirror. It was probably a print of a fine painting.
I am in no way religious, but I got this idea of the portrait doing good there in the store.
I have completed 14 songs for FAWM ten years running. It feels like I am down to the wire this year.
Jesus in a Thrift Store by Jessica Graae 2/27/22 All Rights Reserved
I found Jesus in a thrift shore.
He was leaning against the wall.
Didn’t know what I was there for.
You’d barely notice him at all.
In a corner, and discarded.
His eyes, they looked away.
For, the lonely, broken-hearted
He was there to save.
Calling for peace from a picture frame.
That war will cease and men might pray.
He gives his blessing as a cast-off print.
Hate will lose and love will win.
He was there to spread a message,
From his corner on the floor.
He might help someone find courage,
Where they’d had none before.
Calling for peace from a picture frame.
That war will cease and men might pray.
He gives his blessing as a cast-off print.
Hate will lose and love will win

This turned out to be a great idea for a song, Jessica. Well done and most likely a keeper. Very nice performance here, too.

A very different inspiration source. You have to wonder how/why such a portrait would end up at Goodwill, and who would ever purchase it.
You put a nice light on this find.

Brilliant and poignant lyrics.
What a great inspiration.
Love the simplicity of the music that adds just the right support to the vocals

This is lovely and very moving. There's something poignant about this thrift store Jesus, still offering his blessings in a world filled with pain and prosperity gospel hucksters. I could join the church of TS Jesus. I like the simple guitar, the way it rings so purely. And I love your voice

Calling for peace from a picture frame.
Great line, love the inspiration for the song, very evocative idea. I once moved into a house and found Jesus in the garage, I guess his work was done and relegated to car blessings...LOL..I think this was a great idea.
