Feb 2022 experimental frippertonics delay loops hey live-to-tape jeskola buzz
WARNING: This one clocks in at almost seventeen & a half minutes. Please allow ample time for the full Experiænce. Thank you.
I just kept going. I couldn't stop myself. It just kept going on, almost forever.
But it was worth it.
Of course, part of the length was just the Elottonix XL simply playing back that final loop while doing the slowest fade ever at the end. I had turned off the mic & the guitar by that point & just let the "tape" run. I even left the room to go get a drink. So maybe that part wasn't so much "live-to-tape" Absent-To-Tape perhaps? LOL
I'm pretty sure my Wife inadvertantly added some percussion to the track. She was tenderizing some chicken in the kitchen while I was recording this & I'm pretty sure the sound of her pounding on the meat with her meat tenderizer was picked up by my mic. My son might have even added some vocals as well. He's playing a video game not far away as well & got excited at one point. Oh well, that's the fun of recording with the whole family home LOL.
This was live-to-tape, purely improvised. I just went with the flow. I like the result. I especially love that closing guitar riff that repeats forever as this fades. Gotta remember that one!
What a trip!

Sinister, playful, thoughtful, and evil.
Questioning, mean, sarcastic and inquisitive.

Haha.. I didn't read your liner notes, and was about to comment on the random bits of extra percussion in here being wonderfully placed. I didn't notice your son and his video game, but I was pretty mesmerized by the entire thing... actually I think I did, I just assumed it was some unintelligible lyrics from you... the first Hey, startled me a bit LOL. That extra long fadeout was perfect, and even funnier now that I read you just left the room :D Really loved this!

This doesn’t quite feel Frippish, or rather, its textures feel more like the albums that he did with Andy Summers. I love that you ended the song that way. I had a piece years ago called “Music For Housecleaning” because I set up a whole bunch of interlocking delayed loops and then left them running as I neatened up.

Great liner notes.
I'm liking the slow build on this right away.
The loops are building up nicely.
Like a town getting its first hydro lines; they start with one and then as the town gets bigger and slowly turns into a city they keep adding more and more and eventually there's a complex maze of power lines going in all directions overhead, all going different places and yet creating a pattern of visual (in this case auditory) beauty.
Wah the vocals surprised me!
This is kinda hypnotic and kinda relaxing but kinda not, if that makes sense.
Great headphone mix.
You're right, that fadeout bit is excellent.

This is like ripples on the water, like gently gliding over the ocean, the delays just wave along and propel this so well, the long fade out is like the ending of a long journey.

Hey hey I can't spare 17 full minutes at the moment because it's midnight but I'm currently listening and enjoying and laughing at your liner notes, as I typically capture ambulance sirens and dogs barking in my recordings, but I also have a son who is very vocal with his video game playing. Oh, wasn't expecting the sinister laughter. . . I've never recorded live to tape, sounds thrilling actually, like theater acting. But I prefer to have a safety net :-) Made it to 6:30-. . .. good playing and good night!
