WARNING: these are the worst vocals I've recorded this entire month. Switching between a low and high register in one song is not within my capabilities at this moment apparently lmao :')
Other than that, I like how this song came out. I've been breaking out my non-piano instruments a lot more this FAWM and I've had fun trying out new sounds!
western winds tore through and blew us both away
i woke up lost and alone, in another place
but if there's a way,
i'll follow it through
if at the end
of that path is you
send a flare for help i promise i won't be long
through the wreckage, into the purple of dawn
journey for home
no longer alone
holding hope close
it's all that i know
photos and paintings
of lives that we could have lived
hanging on brick walls
it's more than i could have wished
light in the darkness
our future's my harness
when i'm flying off the edge
when memories spite me
i'm holding too tightly
to the lives we could've had
and the life we're gonna have
i'll follow the moonlight for miles
until i'm where you are
carry the world on my back
beneath the light of the stars
there's no distance too far,
i've got nothing but time
let the light be my guide
and leave the anger behind
i'll find a way
and follow it through
if at the end
of that path is you
journey for home
never been alone
holding you close
you're all that i know

That's a really cool style on the guitar there - trying to work out how it's being played! When the strings/pads join after the first chorus it really takes shape, the voicings with the guitar and those parts work really nicely. As I started to focus on the lyric, I slowly realise how provocative (in a good way!) it is. It really takes us on a journey. I'm sure we all find our own journey on listening, so thank you for being our guide!
