If this ends up being my last post for this year's FAWM, then I can easily say I went with a bang! Another installment to the male duet series, and I was very happy to team up with @bfwaite, whose beautiful piano and harmony stylings took the song to a whole new level, and I adore it. So, thank you!, Brian!
I honestly had no idea what the song was going to be...I had a few chord ideas, but no clue as to lyrics. The first line came to me, but I knew I had to create a cohesive story out of it, so I imagined two gay men in 1910 getting together, and all the excitement (and fear from the outside) that would entail. Like, this could end badly for us if anyone finds out, but the magic of connecting with someone couldn't be dulled by the worry in the moment. The song came together pretty quickly from there (and if I may say, this is the first time that I've written a bridge that I thought was any good. I'm quite proud of it).

This was my first ever duet collaboration and I'm so happy with how it turned out! It was a lot of fun bringing Wayne's song to life, getting to get to harmonize with his smooth, folky voice, and telling this heart-wrenching story. It was also a great chance to exercise my budding piano skills (thanks, lessons!!) and get to play Carole King to Wayne's James Taylor. Thanks for letting me hop in, on this one!
Baby, you've made my mind melt right down,
And I just want another night.
Plenty of spies in this one-horse town,
I've got to know you'll be alright.
And I'll keep watching out...
Baby, it's hard to catch your eye,
And let no excitement show.
I'll keep it tempered, but I can't deny,
There's more of you I need to know.
So I'll keep watching out...
I'll see you just as soon as we can find the time,
Sneak away to commit another tender crime.
And hit the hay again but never just to sleep,
Baby, come along and have your way with me.
It's all that I'll ever need, but let's keep watching out...
Honey, I'm feeling things I can't believe,
And I just want another go.
Waiting for shoes to drop and hearts to heave,
Fire in my blood from head to toe.
But I'll keep watching out...
Honey, I've never jumped like this before,
And I'm trying hard just not to stare.
Waiting for everyone to hit the door,
To take the chance to test your wares.
And I'll keep watching out...
I'll see you just as soon as we can find the time,
Sneak away to commit another tender crime.
And hit the hay again but never just to sleep,
Baby, come along and have your way with me.
It's all that I'll ever need, but let's keep watching out...
But I know when we wake up with the sun it'll have to be done.
And I can barely say out loud I want you as my only one.
And everything around us tells us that this just should never be.
This world ain't made for us, we'll have to find our love in small degrees.
So, I'll see you just as soon as we can find the time,
Sneak away to commit another tender crime.
And hit the hay again but never just to sleep,
Baby, come along and have your way with me.
It's all that I'll ever need, but let's keep watching out...

Damn, this is so good. It's been great to hear @ofishell's male duets, and glad I got to be on one of them. Definitely planning on this for next year, and want to hit up @bfwaite for one too.
You two sound wonderful, and I love the writing on this. So many good lyrics but "Sneak away to commit another tender crime." is my favorite.

!! This song is so steamy and sweet and angsty I love it!
The duet format works perfectly here. Lyrics are really well done especially the ‘small degrees’ phrase. Really impressive song!

Fabulous! The chord sequence hooked me by the ears and dragged me in. Great concept in the lyric story, and a wonderful duet performance. One to be proud of here!

I am absolutely loving these male duets! Another gorgeous song, and one that perfectly blends excitement and caution. Great piano, and when your voices harmonize it's simply glorious! Love it.

BOOM! Your last songs of FAWM22 just got better and better!

Wow. This is so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. You are two amazing singers, and your voices go together so well. And the lyrics, the harmonies, everything - perfect.
