Skirmish SS022722j
Theme: Sausages
Now I do love me some bangers & mash, but I don't do hash unfortunately. Wish I did, as I know how good a pain killer it is, and a muscle relaxant.
Back on topic... hash is in there purely because of the rhyme and it's also a kinda food group :) Well it grows and it's in brownies, so it's food.
Smash = instant dried mashed potato
Hash = is THAT hash, not hash browns. But whichever floats your boat in your imagination goes :)
Collab welcome :)
intro
Did you ever really unduly
Desperately truly
Fancy some bangers and mash ?
v1
I've some Cumberland snags
Fried onions full of fat
Fancy things from Oxford too
I cooked up a feast
With some toms and shrooms
Jug of beer to wash it down
ch
Throw away yer fags
Toss out yer posh prawn wraps
Bin the Smash
Grab yer hash
An cook up some healthy
Good old fashioned
English bangers an mash
v2
Have ya eaten cheapo crap
With like fifty per cent meat
Like a cat throwing up a rat
Then there's those that contain
Stupid things like cocaine
And the butt ends of disused crabs
ch
Throw away yer fags
Toss out yer posh prawn wraps
Bin the Smash
Grab yer hash
An cook up some healthy
Good old fashioned
English bangers an mash
bridge
Now this yer bits the bridge
But it don't go in yer fridge
I'll let you dream on sausages
As well as scratch that itch
ch
Throw away yer fags
Toss out yer posh prawn wraps
Bin the Smash
Grab yer hash
An cook up some healthy
Good old fashioned
English bangers an mash

Yech for the cat food and butt ends of disused crabs. I made sure not to be eating anything while listening to the sausage songs!
What a great write Ajna and prompt. Well, you would love our hash here in the States! it's cubed up corned beef, potatoes and onions, fried in the pan and served with eggs. :0)

Now I'm hungry -- love how the Eastender accent comes right through, even without the music! Great skirmish! Is "disused crabs" rhyming slang for something? (I hope!)

Some wicked images in this. I have never heard of cocaine in sausages!! But I do love bangers and smash with gravy.

Oh, those are some images. The cat and the rat. Bangers and mash is such a juicy name. Guess hash could be hash browns in the US...Is Smash a drink some kind of a lemony cola? Mushy Peas is my other favorite British food name. And this yer bits the bridge is great too. Imagining the Pogues singing this one.

The first thing I thought when I saw "hash" was hasbrowns or corned beef hash - is that a thing in that part of the world?
In any case, so many cool rhymes in these lyrics. Lots of action words makes this high-energy and the subject matter is food and *other ingestibles* so it has no choice but to be fun.
Eating bangers and mash (maybe not this specific kind of hash) is on my bucket list. Someday....someday...

Sounds like great meal. I'm in!

Beautiful descriptions ("cheapo crap...like a cat throwing up a rat.) It made me smile and the lyrics sound very singable. Great job!

This is great fun and transports me overseas for a culinary visit! Flows well and I love the details. Fun bridge!
