Feb 2022 singer-songwriter folk folk-pop melancholy
Sorry about the occasional bum note, but it's a miracle I got anything recorded at all. As soon as I started, people started wandering in and out at random, a bunch of emergency vehicles went past, boy racers with loud exhausts, a flock of really loud birds... This is the best you will get!
All was done on Cubase with the Native Instruments Plucked Acoustic plug-in, which has been a life saver this time round. Sounds so natural!
Little twigs,
Pigeons dance in the sunlight.
Fluffy clouds.
I needed to turn my mind
To inconsequential things
Being rude
Was never my go-to plan.
But then little things
Are all that make the man -
Inconsequential things
Potted plants gracing our windowsills.
I'm not a fan
Of taking the world on myself.
Give me inconsequential things
Clean teeth, neat hair, tidy heart,
I know what I like about art,
I just wish the world was smaller sometimes...

'then little things are all that make the man' very good. Incidentally, if you'd told me you'd played the guitar yourself I wouldn't have known - maybe I should invest myself and save all those retakes!
Great stuff.

This is lovely and so relatable. There's something in the chord sequence and the melody going down when you'd think it would go up (if you know what I mean) that reminds me of David Bowie - Nature Boy, I think - and it really suits your voice.

This is perfect music for the end of cold February Sunday. That chord progression is amazing, again you're making fantastic use of this new tool of yours. And I love these words - That second verse especially hits pretty damn hard. And that opening line of the last verse...."tidy heart"...amazing.

Ooh, glad I found your stuff. This takes me to a new place, and with such observant simplicity. I love the chords you've chosen - great modal feel to this. Excellent lyrics.
