A few weeks ago I was asked about my wishes for the future -beneath health and luck and staying together there was my wish to see the ocean again this year. It is a long drive to get there and I hate driving this long - so my idea was to get a train directly to the ocean ....
This idea was combined with my new love to Mark Hollis. A brilliant musician I discovered 2 months ago. He died 2019 and he was the lead singer and mastermind of Talk Talk. I don't know how but suddenly there was a bear and a blue mouse, too. They ended up in a train to the ocean to meet the ghost of Mark Hollis.
I recorded this morning: Blue Moon (e-bass), vocals and loops. Then asked Duke for a little help by playing his Blues harp. And here it is: my last one for this FAWM.
@dukemeyer
Yes, I only played a li'l blues harp ... :-)
English version below.
Der Zug zum Meer
wo kommt der her
wo fährt er hin
gibt keinen Sinn
der Zug zum Meer
ein kleiner Bär
steigt einfach ein
fährt nicht allein
im Zug zum Meer
da ist noch wer
die blaue Maus
steigt mit ihm aus
dem Zug zum Meer
da kommt noch mehr:
da ist ein Feuer
nicht ganz geheuer
sie hören ein Lied
da ist Musik
da schwebt ein Geist
schon lang verreist
der singt nicht laut
doch ganz vertraut
die Klänge schweben
voll zartem Leben
dem blauen Bär
gefällt das sehr
die blaue Maus,
die mag das auch
sie bleiben dort
an diesem Ort:
der blaue Bär
sitzt mit der blauen kleinen Maus
unterm blauen Himmel
am blauen Meer und sie träumen
von Mark Hollis
der Zug zum Meer ist wieder leer ...
Train to the ocean
from where does it come
where does it goes to
it makes no sense
train to the ocean
a blue baer
gets in the train
he is not alone
there is a blue little mouse
they drive to the ocean
there is a bonfire
this hear a song
and there is music in the air
there is a ghost
been away a long time
they know this music
so tender and full of life
the Baer and the mouse decide to
stay there
and sit at the shore
of the blue ocean under a blue, blue sky
and dream of
Mark Hollis
the train is empty again ...

Bluesy-groovy ! Warum passen Zug und Mundharmonika so gut zusammen? Und der tanzende, sich wiederholende Bass erinnert an die Bewegungen des Zuges. Es funktioniert gut !

There's a very different feel to this very bluesy song, a strangeness from the lyric. It's really late at night here and I'm very tired and my aging brain can't get the right words to say how it feels to me: all of these are close but not quite right...creepy, ominous, eerie, itchy, disturbing...perhaps "unsettling" is the best.
By the way, this song should also qualify for the W2 one note challenge--allow the rising notes in the vocal melody simply as grace notes!
mmm blues harp mmmm. Good stuff @dukemeyer! I'll have to try again (yes, I did play it long ago....mouth issues stopped that 20 years ago)

Ich will auch ans Meer... aber warm soll s sein...Kennt ihr den Zug der in Norddeich Mole endet?
@tageule Mar 2022
Hach. Ich mag die Atmosphäre, die dieser Song kreiert. Superschön verträumt. Und zum Meer will ich auch...

Wunderbare schräge Geschichte und die Mundharmonika ist grandios.
Sehr lebendig.

Fantstisch schöne collaboration, ihr beide :*

That repeating riff is hypnotic, and the whole piece has a surreal, dreamy feel. The lyrics paint such a lovely story, I can see it with illustrations like a children's book. That lil' harp is the perfect touch. Very cool song!

Wow some excellent harb playing the distance and that repeating riff is cool. Das ist gut
