I grew up in Louisiana, but have been away for many years. Mardi Gras is next week and it's making me a little homesick...so I wanted to write a song about going back home. In the chorus, the lyric "let the bons temps rouler" is taken from the phrase "Laissez les bons temps rouler", which means "Let the good times roll" - a common phrase used in Louisiana.
Flying down the runway
Driving on the highway
Time to find my way back home
The miles don’t come easy
But the smiles always greet me
When I find my way back home
---
The good times roll on
Everyday and all night long
Let bygones be gone
Just like they say
Let the "bons temps rouler"
---
We gettin’ Fat on Tuesday
Love to hear the blues play
Always puts me in that zone
Marching in on Sunday
On the second line the drums play
From Bourbon Street down to the Dome
---
The good times roll on
Everyday and all night long
Let bygones be gone
Just like they say
Let the bons temps rouler
---

Oh I hear and feel Louisiana. Such very beautiful people there. I've not been back since doing hurricane relief after Katrina, but seriously the music and people are in my heart. This reminds me <3
