I haven't done a skirmish in a long time, thanks for the prompt @andygetch !
I have wanted to make a song with only sounds created by my mouth for awhile, haha. So for this song I only used a delay plugin (Replika XT, it can do cool effects like the pitch shifting here too) and my mouth to make the sounds. That was fun.
When we start to compare
Is when it starts to end
When you start to compare
It’s time to start again
When down and feeling alone
And always holding the phone
Searching for a way to atone
There’s something better you know
A certain feeling of, a creeping feeling
They’re all better off than you
Living a life less blue
When we start to compare
Is when it starts to end
When you start to compare
It’s time to start again
When down and stuck in your mind
And barely holding the line
Searching for a way to be fine
There’s someone better online
That certain feeling of, a creeping feeling
They’re all better off than you
Living a life less blue
When we start to compare
Is when it starts to end
When you start compare
It’s time to start again
When we start to compare
Is when we start to die
When we start to compare
It’s time to wonder why

Interesting how all of the sounds are made with your mouth! It's a refreshing and unique backdrop.
The lines "They're all better off than you/Living a life less blue" really hits home for me. I've been comparing myself to others for years and not feeling good because of that.

The interweaving of the comparisons and the dour mood helps make the point that the two are related. I am left convinced that I should stop that pattern of comparison and feel better! I love the lightness of the arrangement for this message. The simplicity of the melody also fits well.

I like the relentless simplicity of repeating "When we start to compare" with different endings. It feels like trying to get something through our thick heads, but knowing that it'll never work. Like the pounding rhythm to set that off. Nice work.

I really like the sparseness, the rhythm, your voice, the chanting and echoes; it's haunting and lovely and just awesome!

What a great idea (oops is that a comparison?) to make only vocal percussive sounds under the spoken and sung parts. A highly pleasant listen made interesting by the mouth-only premise. Well done on the skirmish and thanks for playing!

I'd love to know more about how you made this :)
Very interesting and 'listenable' song, and I like how I find myself (without intending to) comparing the instrumental aspect of this with standard song's instrumentation. I really like the minimal nature of the backing, as well as the unusual sounds.
Cool skirmish
