Feb 2022 guitars no-synths no-bass layers so-many-layers illuminati-as-guitar-players ebow
Having a rough time with PTSD flashbacks at the moment, but at least these days I know what they are and can try to work around them. Woke up at five, and couldn't get back to sleep, which gave me this morning's title, although the lyrics very much had a mind of their own. If you happen to discover the Guitar Illuminati's secret mountain hideaway, can you remind them to send me another invite, please? I think mine must have got lost in the post...
And there are drums, vocals, and guitars on this track. That's it.
This looks like a convention
But I can assure you it's not
We all inhabit a dimension
that we'd rather the media forgot
And while not one of us is native
to what's become out motherland
We simply want to be creative
Is that so hard to understand?
While discussions can be bracing
(for we talk of many things)
the biggest problem that we're facing
is getting everyone new strings
No-one's had a meltdown yet
but the night is still quite young
A reminder, in case you forget:
folks in here are highly strung
Our membership is legion
It's drawn from cities, towns and farms
and if you're Polish or Norwegian
we'll welcome you with open arms
Don't like to call this isolation
While no events should be denied
We selected this location
to keep the outside world outside
We'll even let you play 'Smoke On The Water'
(if I were you, I'd favour 'Highway Star')
But please confirm that you're not a reporter
We must make sure you're who you say you are
Not going to claim that this is heaven
Don't want you thinking that we lied
But crank your amp up to eleven
grab a beer, plug in and come inside!

This is so cool and so different from what we just listened to. Really sorry you hear about the PTSD, but it must feel therapeutic to create from that trauma. The guitars really draw you in, with all those amazing layers. Fantastic work, and hoping for less sleepless nights for you!

Wow!
(It's a mark of how huge FAWM has become that I'm only now getting around to hearing your songs, and you're on of my favorites!)
Amazing lyrics and rhymes! And the big wall of guitar/drums is awesome and suitably ominous.

My kind of sounds here. I'm loving how you are building huge guitar layers this year. Who needs synths? ;-)

Ooooh this is wild. You nailed this vibe. Tons of eeriness and subterfuge to go around. Super creative lyric and subject matter. The "We'll even let you play 'Smoke On The Water'" line got a laugh out of me. Well done!

I love the idea of a secret illuminati of guitar players. Though as a uke player I've never got the hang of those bass strings. We don't have a secret mountain hideaway, it's more of a little shed on a hill. Anyway, great sound and some great lines here!

Lots of chilling distortion in here, makes a lot of tension and uneasy tidings. Listened some Rainbow the other day so a Ritchie Blackmore reference is quite a surprise!

The pounding drums, distorted guitars and impassioned vocals create a swirling, overwhelming sense of unease. The lyrics are somewhat abstract yet perfectly clear in their aura of disquiet and conspiracy. And those little instrumental flourishes throughout create a very cool sense of "exoticness," like we're part of a global secretive enterprise. Really dramatic, really compelling!
