This one was a bit emotional to make. My foster dad died at the start of the pandemic, and life has been exactly the same in some ways, but feels completely different in others. I'll always be grateful that he welcomed me into his family and raised me well. This one took me a few takes to get right, and I never did figure out what I wanted to do with the bridge... but it is good enough.
The piano / drums is all from musescore again.
Day after day
Life still goes on
I wish you were here
But you are gone
Week after week
Things are the same
But also so different
I can't explain
But I still feel the pain
You took me in
When I was a kid
You didn't have to
But you still did
It was your choice
to free me from strife
you gave me family
and a much better life
Bridge:
You had such an impact on my life
You made me who I am today
I would have turned out different
Without your caring guidance and your love
You never lost faith
those times where I failed
you believed the best in me
and knew I'd prevail
I don't think I said
How much I loved you
You were the best man
I ever knew

Very honest and earnest lyrics here. I enjoyed the progression in the piano with the leading notes into each new phrase.

Wow. Simplicity was your friend here! It seems really brave to me to lay everything out so vulnerable and open, but it works. The piano loop works really well with the drums and your voice.
I'm glad you didn't try to build it too much. That conversational tone stays grounded and intimate throughout.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm glad your foster dad got to be all these things for you.
