My 14th song! Winnner, winner... chicken dinner?
Skirmish prompt: RELEASE
https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12835/
I went a little long on this skirmish, because I realized I had almost made it through FAWM without recording any instruments besides acoustic guitar. My bass was closest, so on went a bass track.
I'm imagining a very dramatic scene where one of my roosters is trying to rally the group for a great escape.
Do you remember how it was before:
Living inside an egg, and knowing that there must be more?
Lately, I’m tiring of this chicken jail
and now I think it’s time, we started pecking at its shell
When a crack forms, strike at the weakness
Keep it up ‘til we’re released
Follow me, boys. Let’s go the distance!
Are we roosters? Or are you chicken?
The life we’re living is a wicked trap
That man thinks we should show gratitude for kitchen scraps
Let’s escape him and be our own men
and forge a kingdom where each of us will get seven hens
When a crack forms, strike at the weakness
Keep it up ‘til we’re released
Follow me, boys. Let’s go the distance!
Are we roosters? Or are you chicken?
When a crack forms, strike at the weakness
Keep it up ‘til we’re released
Follow me, boys. Let’s go the distance!
Are we roosters? Or are you chicken?

Fun write! Lovely conceit for the story, worked out in clever detail. The "spaghetti western" challenge feel of the accompaniment boosts the drama here.

I have a sudden craving for more chicken songs!!! Congrats on the 14! I love how the chickens are plotting a la Watership Down to establish their own society.

Song 14, prompt "release"....from chicken jail? It was meant to be.
I'm a fan of all the unexpected rhymes and near rhymes, "are we roosters, or are you chicken?" is just right, and the fuzz bass works quite well against the vocals and guitars.
Congrats on winning FAWM 2022!

Your chicken songs are so quirky and good! You have so many great songs on the chicken theme! Amazing how many creative and clever songs you have been able to develop. Love that buzzy fuzzy bass. I love how the song/chorus could be about chickens or people. Such cool music!
