The writing prompt was release. Of course I imagined an album release.
Do you remember the band we saw in Toledo with the singer with the blue felt hat?
They made an album, and they’ll sign it if we go to the show, what do you think about that?
Yeah, they’re playing at the bar that used to be the Point of No Return, and now it’s called the Stand.
The show starts at 4, but I bet if we get there early we can get a selfie with the band.
Yeah, we both said they were amazing, but we never imagined that this would happen today,
So we’re going to the show today, yes today, to bag the Poco Pocos, bag the Poco Pocos, okay?
Do you remember the song with the big long chorus about breaking up with a guy named Jake?
Everyone sang along on the line that said, “Jake, I think you made a mistake.”
That song is on the album, and it is six minutes long, which is crazy for a band like that,
But then there’s the song about the car breaking down at the lake, and they do it in two minutes flat.
Yeah, we both said they were amazing, but we never imagined that this would happen today,
So we’re going to the show today, yes today, to bag the Poco Pocos, bag the Poco Pocos, okay?

This song fills me with wonderful nostalgia! The punk/doo-wop chords, the tale you tell - good stuff.
Again, I like that you did a video, too.

Great tune! I love the take on album release. I love all the details - makes me feel like I am there and am excited about the show! Wonderful melody and nice driving strum!

There is nothing true in the story at all. All fiction, every detail invented.

I like the energy in this. There's excitement in your delivery and guitar playing. Nice feel to it. Good storytelling with those details. Good skirmish!

Cool story. Funny, I thought the same thing when I saw "release" - sounds like a true story, wondering if it is? Makes a great song idea.

I like the story. It's a lot of fun. Really great take on the prompt! Kind of hurts my brain to read it right now the way it's printed -lol.
Will there be a demo? I'd love to hear it!
