Mike:
It's a real pleasure to see @itneverhappened back at FAWM this year. I've admired the way he builds a world of sound since I first heard him. So I sent over a vocal, Peter worked his magic, and this is what (never) happened. Thanks, Peter!
clear and precise
the wind is strong but still i hear them
calling through the ice
they call to me by name
no one can hear
nobody sees the playground's empty
everything has changed
everything's the same
at night i like awake and listen
to the children in the ice
out on the lake i clear the snow
to watch their faces watching me, singing:
we will break it all
we will break it all
your world is sick down to the roots
and we will come and break it all

Hey, this sounds really different from what I was expecting, and it works really well.
Haunting and modern, the production and style on this is totally at odds with the usual minimal style I associate with your voice, and it's so fresh!

The echo is a cool effect — wow the “we will break it all” is so unexpected and gentle— opposite of the feeling it gives me, opposite of the words themselves in a way, so effective how it suddenly sweetens and then the instruments come back!

This is gloriously intense. The contrast between Mike's gentle voice and the ominous dark layers of music makes for a fabulous track. Lyrics are perfect for this style and all that lovely delay-soaked twanging guitar is great.

This is a stunner. The music is fascinating and always surprises as it develops. Mike, your voice just gets better and better and I love it in every setting. It's especially wonderful here, it stands out as an extraordinary instrument inside this complex arrangement.

Wow, what an evocative recording. The softness of the vocal comes through the hard instrumentation almost as if it's ... under ice. Love how that last verse builds up. I can see those children in my mind's eye.
