Me trying to make a clever play on is the glass half empty or half fool.
Half empty Half a fool

V-1
Well she played me, like an old pawnshop guitar
She broke the strings on my simple minded heart
And she told me, so many things that weren’t true
And I keep holding on to something, not worth holding on to
Chorus
And I’m staring in a looking glass
Don’t know whos looking back
All I see’s a man Dazed and confused
Cant even recognize
The optimism in my eyes
Cause she left me, half empty and half a fool
V
Now I’m looking at, the middle of this bottle
That liquor line is getting lower with each swallow
And when its gone will her memory finally die
Or will I open up another one, since I’ve still got half a mind
Chorus
And I’m staring in that old shot glass
There I am looking back
Shell of a man Drunk and confused
Starting to recognize
The pessimism in my eyes
Cause she left me, half empty, and half a fool
Bridge
Everything in life
Is just a point of view
And hope and doubt
Are the roads that we choose
Chorus
And I’m staring at our wedding glass
A promise with a faded past
Together were one, divided were thru
Our initials are inscribed
Even though our love has died
Cause she left me half empty and half a fool

So warm and lived in! This song is both tender and yet bitter, and more than anything, the guitar and vocals make the listener really *feel* for the singer character. Plus, that “half empty, half a fool” hook is golden, both lyrically and musically. Good stuff!
