This was an idea that popped into my head following the rapid write-record of last song. My wife got on a scale, then I figured I should too, but I didn't like my results. My wife laughed at me, and my response spawned the first line of the song.
Funny how being far less active what with both vertigo and covid has had some waistline penalties. Gotta work on that.
This scale, and my ice cream belly lie
These jeans shrunk half a size
That's my story and I'm sticking to it
All my muscle's gone to fat
So you say, but I doubt that
As I grab another slice of pie
You might have a point or two
I could lose more than a few pounds
Good thing you like some meat on them bones
I'll try to do better, cut out
The things I oughta not
They say dad bods are in
I don't know what that means
Never really been hip to the new trends
But you might have a point or two
I could lose more than a few pounds
Good thing you like some meat on them bones
I'll try to do better, cut out
The things I oughta not
I know you're only looking out for me
And It really means a lot
That pastry calls my name
Every time that I walk by
As I take that first bite
I know I oughta not
You might have a point or two
I could lose more than a few pounds
Good thing you like some meat on them bones
I'll try to do better, cut out
The things I oughta not
I'll try to do better, cut out
The things I oughta not

A little too relatable! Meanwhile, the high strings are working overtime giving a beautiful, folksy shimmer to the short interludes between stanzas. Such a pleasant listen, even as it directs me to an uncomfortable reality I need to re-evaluate myself. :-)

I don't think that this is a silly song. Lots of people struggle with their weight. The performance os great!
