Initially all I could think of was the McCartney song. Then I thought for a bit of fun I'd see how many famous love songs I could reference in one lyric - can you count them all?
Apologies for the rough performance, but I'm already late and I could be here all night trying to get a complete take!
GUESS WE’RE ALL JUST SILLY LOVE SONGS IN THE END
I’ve got your song playing on my radio
After I can’t pick between at last or slow show
I wanted to break free but you know you really got me
Now you’re with me everywhere
Guess we’re all just silly love songs in the end
Can’t describe the way you make me feel
Every day I wake you made my dreams
When slow dancing cheek to cheek, I’m a naive melody
And to love somebody rears its head again
Guess we’re all just silly love songs in the end
If these arms aren’t mine then I’d rather go blind
I’m done with falling down time after time
God only knows if you will still be here tomorrow
Let’s go walking to somewhere only we know
Ever since we met you feel like home
Must be she’s got a way since first I saw her face
If this ain’t love I’m willing to pretend
Guess we’re all just silly love songs in the end

I was too late to get in on the skirmish, but I liked the prompt, so I did a version, too. So, I’m loving seeing your tale on it. So clever. I like the wistful sound of it, with all of the not so buried references to other live songs. You certainly integrated them well. So well done!

Andy! how did i miss this little GEM! such a gorgeous love song in tis own right, but all those nods to other songs has really made me smile. you have had an amazing month - the sea air does wonders for you!!

My initial thought after seeing the prompt was the Melissa Etheridge song "Come To My Window." I doubt I caught all the references here, but I love this idea. Nice skirmish!

the wistful tone/chords for this song is very effective. The line we’re all just silly love songs" is such a great take on this prompt.

I d never have thought of "we are all love songs...". great idea. It is said that every person has their very own melody. Are these all love songs? And on which radiostation can they be heard? Great singing and playing.

This had an unexpectedly powerful effect on me, a music lover. I didn't realize I was that into love songs but as I picked up the references it took me to a great place. You have excellent taste! Great concept and great job sticking it.
And your playing and singing are both quite beautiful. I'm a fan of this one.

That is a lot of writing in an hour, and sweetly performed, too. Nice sentiments "Ever since we met you feel like home" and "If this ain't love, I'm willing to pretend." Beautiful skirmish work!!

You hook the phrases together so naturally that I'll need to listen to it again and again to pick out the titles. They feel like they just belong here, and other people stole them from you.
@ajna1960 Feb 2022
Wow this is very clever, and still it all comes together and makes sense. And a love song too !
Love how you used the theme as a refrain at the end of the verses.

Great contrast between the powerful and positive lines (and quotes) celebrating love and the melancholic and truly emotional tune that was on the point of having me in tears.
